Woodstock senior scratch cup has been cancelled. Very wet weather in Clare thus week has brought the course to a point where it wouldn't be good enough to host a ssc. To be rescheduled.

sad to here this - I was going to tip down, but something came up this weekend. Oh well, hopefully will get to go again when its rescheduled :)

Would like to play it but going on holidays instead. I would imagine its still very wet there, played it about month ago.

Cobh GC Junior Scratch Cup on tomorrow. Playing around 9am. Weather looks good

Mitchelstown not in bad nick considering the weather, played during the week, fairways good, greens very good, not lightening fast but very true, some wet patches between greens and tee boxes. I'm going to have a go at it anyway.

Thought Cobh could have done a better job advertising this. No ad in the examiner on Tuesday. Spoke to a few lads today who didn't even know it was on, I don't think they check the GUI site and hadn't heard about it otherwise

True enough. Played with lads last weekend in Dromoland who hadn't heard about it either

Mullingar Scratch Cup on this weekend - the cream of the crop all down there for it ;)

Great craic all round and a great standard of golf.

    www.mullingargolfclub.com for day 1 results

Was watching a few of the athlone fellas today and they qualified well, so hopefully tip down tomorrow to watch again aswell for a little while in the morning if anyone else is around. I'll most likely either be following Tommy O'Connor ( level par after first 2 rounds ) or Kelan McDonagh. Green and White Stripped T-Shirt or Red and White Stripped T-shirt ;) [ havent decided what im wearing yet :P ]

wander up and say hello ;)

oh Shane Lowry was there aswell, following around his brother. Classy fella. dead sound. You'd see him wandering into the trees and he's like a regular chap. you wouldnt think he was a millionaire ;)

Should be an enjoyable day out with some nice weather and serious golf down there. Who's winning at the moment?

Played in the Woodlands Minor Scratch Cup today. Played very well for the first 8 holes. Was 6 over at that stage. Hit my 2nd shot out of bounds on the 9th. Stuck a drive out of bounds on the back 9 and those two shots were costly. Missed some short putts as well. Finished with a 93 gross and a nett 74. Rough was very penalising.

Got eaten alive by midges on the first tee box as well!

    Don't ask!!

Course was in great nick. Never played it before.
Playing well, anyone could eat it up....Par 5 are all birdie chances.
    Greens are fairly tricky though

I followed him for his 2nd round while he was playing with kelan mcdonagh and brendan walton - cracking striker of the ball and a great putter. Delighted for him

Hopefully have a couple of good weeks with Carlow the weekend before.

Just seen the results of the Woodlands Minor Scratch Cup on the Irish Times. 91 won it, 92 was 2nd. I had 93 including a short missed par putt on the last :(

Blainroe is fine course IMO. Not the longest but with some tricky short par 4s. Some very picturesque holes too along the cliff tops. Id be heading down too for the junior only I'm away on hols.

I wouldn't go out of my way to play it,very hilly and very much a local knowledge course,if weather is nice its ok but if forecast is bad I'd stear clear.

a course youd want to have played a few times to score imho - greens can be wierd (breakwise) and its very hilly. the index1 is stupid too. not a fan..

Ah its not too bad, fairly enjoyable and some interesting holes.

Not a huge trek, a couple of the par 4s are very reachable in 1. The secon and thirteenth I think.

Greens aren't too bad and I think the 9th is the real only tricky one with an inverted slope that can be tricky to read.

Bring lots of water because the course gets very humid and you'll dehydrate easily.
