It's on ESPN2. I've looked everywhere for streaming of it (unsuccessfully). Does anyone have it on their TV or know where I can watch it?

I have also looked for streams of espn 2 but after searching through numerous message boards, it seems that streams of the channel are only available for major sporting events such as the soccer world cup. ODD-JOB seems to be guy who is in the know regarding streams for fights so if he's reading this, please don't hesitate to help out!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭ODD-JOB

    Yeah , its online finally.
Its going to be a late one though,........ get the matchsticks out !!

I'll post a link to it later , as sometimes they are not 100% reliable.

BTW .... Andy has weighed in alost 4 pounds lighter than Vera !

Its Andy's first appearance on US television,.... I wonder will he fall into the pitfall's of many others , trying to impress the crowd whilst abandoning his normal fighting style ?

It depends on what program the stram is streamed on. The name is typically on the stream, so just goggle the name when its placed up.

Lee fought poorly but that was a joke of a stoppage .
Lee landed two good shots as the referee jumped in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,594 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

wft was that ref thinking!! Lee hit back after taking that big shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 148 ✭✭Chicky

Wow what a time to stop ... controversial

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,594 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

no usage of body shots at all. no right hooks to follow up. Lee fought very poorly.

Steward just said he had no problem with the stoppage.

Steward's probably looking at it from the point of view that Lee didn't deserve to win for the way he fought anyway and that this will be a big lesson for him .
Had he been allowed to continue and battle through he may not have learned that lesson .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 148 ✭✭Chicky

Weird fight ... if Lee had puttin a bit more power into the big punch in rd one .... could he have finished him ...

Always knew it was going to be a tough one, but Vera was the one that came back stronger after it

wow i havent seen it yet but thats a BIG upset is it not, i feel sorry for andy. I feel Duddy is also 1 fight away from loosing his ZERO.... im wondering was my prediction (a few posts back) that Macklin is our best hope at this weight correct, we will find out in a few hours.... how big of an upset is this for lee and where does he go from here?

yeah, i thought that might be his thinking allright. Lee needs to learn how to tie up a fighter after he's hurt for one thing. He also has got to learn not to expose himself when the fighter gets inside. Far too often Vera caught him on the inside. His lack of strength compared to Vera was a problem in this fight too.

Huge upset , but at the same time I learned nothing new about Lee or Vera .
I would look for an immediate rematch to be honest and keep shouting the excuse of early stoppage(whether they believe it or not) . Lee can beat Vera by simply fighting smarter and Vera would probably be far too wild in a rematch .

However as I said before Lee has no inside game , that's why I predicted that both Duddy and Macklin would beat him(which was laughed at after Duddy v Smichet) . Macklin is indeed out best middleweight , but I'll eat those words should Campas pull off the upset .

Andy Lee seriously needs to be shown how to fight on the inside and how to tie up on the inside otherwise guys will simply rough him up Hatton style , backing him to the ropes and trying to brutalise him .

I suppose we may have learned what level Lee's chin is at , quite good but not great . Lee should have beaten Vera tonight , he had all the tools to do it and didn't so he only has himself to blame .

we'll see. it'll be sad if none of the three fail to win a world title. that said i still feel Lee has the best chance to claim a world title of the three. this lost could yet be the making of him.

when lee connected with his shots he just left them there, no snap.
he looked very much like duddy when he just didnt respond to the shots he was taking.

in the referees defence lee was making no effort to defend himself. i still think it was a bad call though, but only because lee fired back before the ref called it off (he seen the shots land before he jumped in properly,)

He didnt fight well at all, looked like his mind was somewhere else.
congratulations to vera though, a very good win for him

Hardly a rematch tho if Emanuel didn't make any noise about the stoppage? Suppose in the light of day he might feel differen after seeing it on video

Ah must be showing my GAA colours now if i'm on bout refs!

Interestingly enough Vera said before the fight he felt his strength could be the telling factor. He obviously studied videos of Lee and was confident he could dictate the fight from the inside. Possessing all the tools to win is no good if you eat punches on the inside:(

well, as big ears indicated if Steward was commentating for hbo he would have had a different opinion on the stoppage. he's thinking as a coach- that this is a harsh but at the same time a valuable lesson for Lee

Maybe he would have had a different opinion on his own channel maybe not. Oh i've no qualms about that at all at all, Vera had Lee stunned and disorientated from earlier on moments before it was stopped even though he had dodged the last punch and went in with one of his own ... Neither here nor there now its in the past and I'm not a gal for post mortems really

very hard on Andy Lee , but did anybody see A.Lee's eyes roll to the back of his head when he slumped down on the ring-stool ??!!
He was in big trouble , but i cant remember how long was left in the round ?...

even still, Lee never hit the canvas, its a hard pill to swallow

Think that slump was after the stoppage odd job. The camera panned away fair quick so was a bit worried with those wallops to the head and the two swollen eyes. Didn't look the best

Lee should of taken a knee so he could recover and buy time until the round was out. That would of been the smart thing to do considering he was not able to clinch properly.

I agree with the stoppage. Lee was simply not defending himself. He was getting clattered and his legs were gone. Sure he threw back a few punches, but that does not equal intelligent defense.

What next for Andy? Immediate rematch. 100%, without a doubt.

i'm sure after studying the video of this fight Lee will be kicking himself for how he fought. it's one thing to lose when you are outclassed but to lose because you fought badly is very irritating
I'm confident Lee will learn from this and improve as a fighter.

heres the youtube links,so you can watch them in fullscreen, boxing videos online doesnt let fullscreen.

I dont really know what to tell from that, the fight should not have been stopped because Lee was punching back but I cant see the damage to lee because the quality is rubbish.Vera was smashing him all over the place so he probably would have won anyway!

Reading american websites alot of people were badmouthing Emmanual Steward claiming he ruins young fighters and said steward would be the demise of Lee,In this fight he never used his right hand and just didnt make good decisions.Maybe they were right!

His record is now ruined,no doubt the laughable RTE pundits who will be in studio for the Macklin fight tonight, will make up some cock and bull rubish to keep the sharade going.

Yeah it was after the stoppage , but it just goes to show Lee's condition.
he's a warrior alright, he was willing to punch till he dropped.
But Lee's head was gone , he wasnt all there , and was en route to the canvas for sure imo.

I know Andy has been middleweight all his carreer, but surely he should be dropping down a weight.
he weighed in almost 4 pounds lighter than his opponent , he wont have put much on by the time he entered the ring. Im sure vera packed on an extra half stone on top of his initial weight.

Andy has always looked a little "skinny" for his fights.
The super welter category is extremely exciting at the moment imo.
In fact , much more so than the middleweight class imo....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,841 ✭✭✭Running Bing

    Absolutely gutted!

Lee is so classy though. He easily beats Vera in a rematch for me.

Bottom line is Lee was put in a situation he was never in before. He did not have the experience. Lets hope he takes something from that. To think the idiots on RTE were talking about putting him in with Pavlik already.

He is a gifted fighter and has a lot of talent but he still has a long way to go. If he quickly rematches Vera and beats him convincingly this is'nt so bad for Lee imo.

hes 6,2 or 3 the other fighters are alot smaller .thats why he fights midleweight and looks skinny
