Well done! I went through the whole TVR/Marcos/AC spectrum in my head, but finally had to admit that I just hadn't a clue.

Now, boys and girls ...what's this then?

Looks like a Melkus RS 1000 with front fogs added on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,819 ✭✭✭✭peasant

Correct (although I'm not sure if those "fogs" aren't original)

For all others who haven't heard of Melkus before:

I won't get involved in these searches again after I nearly debilatated myself finding the solution to one of Paul's mystery cars a few years ago. Can't find the link, but some of you might remember. Mike?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

:D Yeah I was thinking about some of Pauls choices (he was just showing off ;) ).

Are you sure you guys are up for this??? Like Unkel said, it's quite addictive, and can take quite a bit of one's valuable time :D ...

    ;)

I wasn't showing off by the way, but we seem to know our cars, even the Gilbern in the top pic is in fact a Dutch registered car ;-)

    Never heard of these before.

But what did they offer that a regular VW van didn't?

Well done that man. Austin-Rover/BMC/BL should still be in business - they sold so many patents!

    Heres another teaser.

Actually I thought the front wing had a look of the Alfa Sprint, but the name threw me, that and the fact that I've never heard of an Alfa milano!

    Nice sprint on Carzone.
    sprint.jpg

The original is, in my opinion, a much nicer looking car.

It's not a Z600, as the door handles are completely different to that shown in the picture.

The reg. doesn't come up either on the HPI website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

It was like a proper car inside it, had a gearstick on the floor, and back seats, wouldnt like to take 4 adults on a long trip in it though!!

I'm not 100% convinced on this one. The "Alfa Milano" is in fact a North-American Alfa Romeo 75.
This car is clearly based, not on the Sprint or the 75, but on the GTV (which in turn was based on the Alfetta). The bulge in the bonnet would suggest the V6 version. However, officially the Alfetta GT/GTV6 was never released by Alfa Romeo as a convertible, which to me would suggest this is a hybrid/one off/home grown convertible, based on a GTV6.
But, I will stand corrected if someone provides me more info on this car...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I've been looking! I knew the Milano name was used for the US market and I've been trying to find where I got the pic from in the first instance, without success so far.
