It's out here on Thursday, from what I've heard they're making minor improvements to it instead of trying to reinvent it, why fix what isn't broken eh? The most intriguing improvement I've seen is the integration of your character from the single player mode into multi-player, you gain experience in the campaign based on how you play, e.g. if you keep using assault rifles you'll gain new assault rifle improvements such as scopes and silencers, same goes with shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols etc. anyone else here looking forward to it?

Can't wait for it, and theres a proper co-op storymode this time.... Something nice to play over the easter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭The Freeman

got a copy of it on sunday and bout half way through now, they have gone with the motto of 'if it ain't broken don't fix it' which in my opinion is great considering the first game is arguably the best game on the machine!

there are very slight upgrades that add to the experience and make it slightly better than the first(so far)

like enemies now have a full body sheild in one hand and a pistor in the other and are pretty tough to take down unless you or you get your boys to lob a grenade at them or alternatively flank them.

the weapons system that was in the multiplayer fits perfectly in to the story mode(you can also purchase clothing upgrades too;))

i really did forget how good adn compelling the first one was again until i picked this one up after palying cod 4 and the ilk since.

all in all if ya liked the first you'll like this one too.

The only disapointing thing for me is that co-op mode is only 2 player. Would have preferred 4 player but will defo be getting it this week.

Was actually going to start new thread to see if anyone has seen any prices in stores yet?

Play.com are selling it for GBP39.99 delivered but if Tesco or Zavvi were doing it for EUR55.00 I would buy there.

    Hi everyone,

Exiledgamers.com will be setting up a clan for this game. More than welcome to join or meet up with the others on the first day this game is released for a bit of a laugh.

I think about 5 people on the site have it preordered from gamesnash.ie who accept debit card payment BTW and they say they'll send it so it arrives on release day if possible. You can ask the guys from our forums that preordered it here about what day they are supposed to be getting it. I've not preordered it although I'll probably get it at some stage.

I'm sure they'll join the thread shortly. If not, I'll ask them to give ye a shout if someone wants me to, just reply to this topic. I'm subscribed already.

Based on recent trends in Zavvi, I'd say it's likely they'll have it as their €55
    game of the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭Markjf

Just rang Zavvi and Hmv and both say it's out tomorrow and will cost 60 euro they normaly do them for 55 euro:(

And xtravision are looking for 69.99 euro for it.

Zavvi is the old Virgin Megastore chain, nothing to do with HMV.
Virgin rebranded as Zavvi after Branson flogged it and there was an MBO.

More or less the same, a few new weapons (M468, Steyr AUG Para, L85A2, FNC, SR-25 and one or two more), a new ranking system that works across single and multiplayer, improved graphics for co-op and multiplayer, more charater customisation, better enemy AI.

oh I almost forgot the big new feature for me is bullet penetration, so no hiding behind a wooden partition wall all day.

Cant wait for this game, the first one is my Fav online shooter ever. Its the only one iv played where people pull together and use tactics most of the time. Holding down the package in the casino Vault while the other team try to storm it,pure magic when everyone is on form - getting pinned down in the billards room while your team mates use the windows to flank them!! You just dont get that from call of duty and Halo! Bring on 5.30 !!!!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 672 ✭✭✭Pure Cork

How does it compare to Rainbow Six Vegas 1? I haven't played either, so I want to know if it's worth the extra money or if I should get the first one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭silvine

I played Rainbow Six online but every time I got killed I had to watch the other survivors fight it out. WATCHING people play games is not much fun...

Is there new game types in this one with re-spawn?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,398 ✭✭✭Fingleberries

I agree. It sucks to sit there watching the others finish off the game if you died early doors.

You can respawn in R6V1, it just has to be set by whoever sets up the game before the game starts. The only mode that definitely didn't have respawn was the Terrorist Hunt. I know in advance that I'm going to be crap, and only enter games that have respawn enabled. :D

I preordered this one in Game Stop. I thought it was out tomorrow. Is it out today?

    Quote from IGN review
"As I said previously, the biggest problem that most will have with Vegas 2 is that it doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the first. It doesn’t feel like an expansion pack exactly–-it’s more than that--but it doesn’t feel like a full-fledged sequel either. For those who haven’t taken a stroll down the streets of Sin City than you needn’t look any further than Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those looking for a sequel that surpasses the original in everyway imaginable will be disappointed."

Might be a while before I pick it up. Still hooked on COD4 and Halo has new maps due next month....

I've not played the previous game in months – so will give this a miss as well.

anybody know if there's any mention on the web of comparisons between the 360 and PS3 versions? I can't look for that kinda information from work. I've got both consoles so want to check if there's obvious reasons to get one version over another.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

I can confirm it's on sale today in Zavvi for €60 as they said above.

Why would we need your affiliated link?

This is one game that I was not willing to wait for and had to pick up on
    release day.

    UNLOCK EXTRA MAPS

    1. go to extras on the menu, then exclusive content, create an ubisoft account and you can download the streets map from vegas 1

    2. go to extras on the menu, then comcast gift, type in "comcast faster" to unlock a comcast map

no one needs my affiliated link, but if anyone was thinking of buying from there they could use it... or not

I only mentioned it was affiliated so people would know, and if they didnt want to use it, they could go through the main site

at least you had the decency to say your link was an affiliated link , most just post the link and say nothing.

back to rainbow six vegas 2 : does the 360 version still have the option to scan your face onto your character ?

Yes it does - and they've improved how your imported face works with masks,
    caps, hats, etc.
    silvine wrote: »

R6 Vegas 1 was possibly the best game for the 360 online, I expect this
to be more of the same - in a good way!

I never even knew my 360 version of RB6V1 would do this - not that it'd do me much good as I don't have a camera for the 360.

I do have one for the PS3 though - will Number 2 allow me to do this on the PS3 version?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,905 ✭✭✭bucks73

That Tesco offer of 30% back in vouchers applies to games also. Anyone seen R6V2 for sale in Tesco today and if so how much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭The Freeman

on the last mission now i think and overall its the same as the first game, bar the fact that the a.i. on the boys isin't as improved as they say and they still don't respond always when ya ask them to lob grenades or to take cover in a certain area.
there is a slow down issue with the ps3 version and on the 360 version not so much but it has been very evident 4-5 ocasions for a few mins which is slightly annoying i have to say when it wasn't in the first vegas.(it locked up once for the first time on a game)

    Branoic wrote: »

yes it will once you have the Playstation Eye plugged into the PS3 , if it is not plugged in you will not see an option for it in the game and you will think it's not in the PS3 version.

Wow this is almost as laggy online as Team Fortress 2, prepare to get raped by American hosts, I've fired entire clips into guys and it had no effect

A.I. is still rubbish. I remember telling them to rappel down a wall through a window, instead they both rope drop into the building, walk into the room with the terrorists and go to the window i told them to rappel into from inside the bloody room  And on the second mission, one of them got stuck on a puddle :D he couldn't move, don't they have testers for this sort of thing.
