Weight loss conundrum

    Hi all,

I just got back training after a long lay off (laziness induced). My question is that when I started I was 22 4 and now almost 3 weeks later I'm 22 5 but I've lost almost 5 inches off my waist?!?

Any ideas anyone, I doubt I'm converting fat to muscle that quickly.

My workouts generally tend to be roughly 30-40mins cardio and I do mostly compound excerises for the strength part of it.

    Thanks.
    D.

Fair play!, sounds like you have a great programme there.

Too many people get hung up on pure weight figures imho
If you lost 5 inches of your waist thats sure as hell the best indication you're doing something right :)

Who cares what the scales say? No-one ever sees that but you. But everyone sees how your jeans fit. Go by the tape, and what size clothes you take.

Absolutely spot on. Weight can fluctuate to a ridiculous extent- the size of your kaks doesn't lie! Great work so far, keep it up...

The best way to judge your progress is to take photo's every two weeks of your front, rear and side profiles. Keep an eye on your visual progress.

Get a cheap plastic body fat caliper and take regular measurements. Also get a cheap measuring tape and take measurements of your biceps, chest, waist etc.

Weight is not a great measurement of success. It's all about how you look in the mirror tbh.

Well done. You should try to use the same scale and have your body in the same condition each time.

So you should be hydrated to the same level. I could drink 6 pints weighing a half stone without having to go for a wee. Most weigh in the morning, probably best during the week if you have been drinking, as you can wake up dehyrated.

Take photos and measurements to track progress better.
