Losing weight in the thigh's?

Hey there, I want to lose some fat around my thigh's. Now I'm not overweight or anything. I'm about 5'9" to 5'10" and I am slim.

I've always felt that my thigh's were fairly big. I noticed them growing when I was 12 years old but I have been thinking that it's all part of growing up and I havent gotten used to the change in size and may be a psychological thing.

Anyways, I cycle twice a day, 4 times a week. The cycle route is fairly steep coming home. I'm always walking too. I just havent seen a change in thigh mass since September. (<< When I started cycling).

I eat healthy but sometimes have some chipper or pizza. I drink about 2 - 3 times a week also.

Any idea's on how to lose some of unneeded weight in my thigh's?

    Thank you. :)

    squats.
i'd recommend squatting all the way down till your ass is close to your heels.

high reps 10 - 12 worked for me but my betters here might have a better theory.

you might put on weight with squats but it'll sort out any flab on your thighs
also cut the chipper and pizza / beer to once a week. it save you calories (which have you in this predicament - cos diet has put you here ) and you'll appreciate the treats more.

    less beer more gym!

Are you SURE it's fat. Thighs tend to be quite muscular anyway and if you're slim it's most likely to be muscle especially if you cycle a lot.

Are they actually big, or do you just think they're big?

Get an objective friend to point out other people with the same build as you. I'm always amazed when I see who looks like me, they are all much thinner than I think I am. Failing that, take a look at yourself in a reflective window when you are walking past, and you'll see the whole picture. Again, I think my thighs are huge, but when I see myself like that, my legs are skinny and it's my bum that is big.

research has proven its impossible to "spot reduce", i.e. lose fat in one particular area by simply working that area alone. Its only overall fat lose that would reduce the fat in your thighs. If your thighs are actually holding significantly more fat than other areas of your body you might want to talk to your doctor.

Its natural for a woman to hold fat in her upper thighs.

You sure its not just in your head?

Hmmmm thanks for all the replies.

My thigh's dont 'look' muscular, just big lol.

My dad is pretty big boned and slightly overweight by a stone or 2, maybe I could have big bones like him but I don't think I'm flowing his way in terms of body mass.

Probably just is in my head, but I will cut down on fast food and beer now just to be generally healthier anyways. I'll see how that will work for me.

Will cutting down on these types of foods have any impact on fat mass around my body? I'm not one to hit the gym I just cycle and walk.

Again, thank you :). Happy Paddies Day.

Make sure to drink plenty of water as this will cut down on water retention, which for ladies often happens in the thighs (or so I'm told)
