What country do you love he most, be it for the language, culture, lifestyle, people or the weather.

Im a regular visitor to France, i love the language, the people and the way of life, most particularly in the south, where they are rather different to the people of the North. It, for a relitvely small country is very diverse with culture and landcape.

I love the US, but does lack the culture bit, ive been to many places and i find it hard to match the French

So i suppose pipping the US to top spot would be La France :)

Finland - the people are lovely, the language is cool, the country is beautiful and its generally a great place to visit. Also The Netherlands is pretty cool. I love the cities, the lovely flat countryside dotted with windmills and again, the people there are so friendly.

I really like France because the French are so polite, even if it seems contrived it's better than how most Irish people speak with eachother!

I like Italy too, the people there are very nice and the food is delicious!

Canada. Definitely. Been to Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto and love the place. Banff is the nicest place on earth, imo.

I have favourites, but for different reasons, some of them may seem silly to others...

Argentina - I love to tango there!
South Korea - Korean communal Bar-B-Qs, plus taekwondo in Kukkiwon
Jamaica - To scuba dive in the warm clear water and dance to the drums
Hawaii (in USA) - To surf the waves and shop the flea markets

Love Spain and just about anywhere that speaks spanish and has been touched by its relaxed atmosphere.

Croatia. Previously it was Portugal for a good while, before that it was Brazil, then Romania, Argentina and Germany before that.

Been there a few times and wouldn't agree. Of course we met some lovely people but when you go to the big cities people generally seem quite up their own arses and unfriendly, particularly those who work in the tourism sector. I'd be an asshole if I had to work in the tourism sector but I doubt I'd get hired.

Of the places I've been, Germany & Austria have been savage. Places I'd love to go to are Japan, Canada and New Zealand.

Canada, and I'd live with the Trailer Park Boys if I was there.

The people are supposed to be very friendly and it snows there.

Ilove the Mountains of Austria, and the ppl seem alot more friendly than the Germans, .. the Germans tend to dislike the Irish

Germany and Netherlands (lived there for a while). Know both languages too so it's easy to find friends among the locals.

Was in Berlin for a few days recently and that they were very friendly and open to Irish. Kept meeting people whod been climbing mountains, hill walking, boozing here.

Tis a toughie, I love the U.S. but I think New York has a lot to do with that.

But as other posters have said, Canada ftw. Been to Toronto and Vancouver and both are savage. I could easily see myself living in Vancouver, a city that literally has everything. Surf in the morning, and skiing by the afternoon. British Columbia as a whole is spectacular, a world within a world.

Australia for me. I absolutely love it here. Went to Fraser Island over Christmas and it's the most beautiful place I've ever been.

Honourable mention also to the US cause it has Chicago and Vegas.

Nail on the head there Snyper, the south of France is great and the people, for the most part, are quite nice. Have spent a few summers in Perpignan and would go back there in a second.

Northern Ireland, it's only a couple of hours away but feels more like
a different planet than a different country.

Only been to England, Scotland, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia and Latvia

Portugal was nice.... but Latvia was by far the best buzz me hads.

Slovakia was a lump of frosted poo

It's actually the nicest beer for the money. I think I may name my son after it.

    True...

Perth is not one of the places people think of when going to Oz, particularly because of the distance away from the more populated and "popular" south east Australia.

Whats the attaction? I know very little a bout it.

ok, im in nz, so i may well be biased, but any european countries i've been to have been just tourist traps, never really got to see the country itself... often just found locals out to screw you over, and/or ridiculously poor kids/people out to beg/rob from you...

did a few days in germany for a music festival and found the germans either fantastically friendly, or ridiculously aggressive... there didnt seem to be any middle ground, but i thoroughly enjoyed my time ther,e nad meeting the various poeple there too.

now, im livign in new zealand and quite enjoying it. the people are quite friendly, the buses, dammit, even if i'm absolutely between bustops and have no right to even contemplate hailing a bus... they stop, and greet me friendilyish. i do quite enjoy it here... very freindly people, thoughs ome huge crime problmes... eg, racism and street gangs...

aww, do it again! such a beautiful country! i've been here for 4months total (over the course of a year, missed the winter..) so far, and love it... came here knowing about three people... one being my b/f, two being his mates, who i'd know/get on with... but woudlnt exactly call on if i was in the mood for a night out... but have gotten to know a fair few people now, who even went together on a bday present for me, had an absolute ball at that gig, but absolutely everyone, including the nazi punks and other dodgy looking types have been nothing but polite and friendly to me. it's been a huge lesson on judging by appearance, and hell, i just love it here!

Well for me it was first choice as I was born here and have family here too.

It's known for having the best beaches in Australia and if you drive a few hours north or south you get to see the real outback Oz kinda thing. The weather is stunning - it's been in the early to mid-30s at least since early December. It's also a real relaxed atmosphere, not as hustle and bustle as the bigger cities. Basically it's great if you want a chilled out lifestyle.

Oh and the women.....good lord the women are stunning.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,107 ✭✭✭flanum

Spain i suppose for the chilled out work ethics (manana)!

Israel for the absolute head-fcuk that is jerusalem! used to spend every weekend in the old city being blown away by the melting pot of 3 major religions living a few metres away from each other.. the whole intensity of it!

yep, way off topic and im not even gonna go into any of that **** here. just lets say that street gangs are shockingly common here, and he went through a rough patch, and it was a street gang that helped get him through it.
