    Hi people,

New to Boards and trying to get my fitness back so been reading some great advice here but one thing thats bothering me. I had a heart murmer(!!) when I was a baby and about 5 years ago I went to the Doc cos I felt as if I was having irregular hearts beats (which takes the wind out of me, scary) but now after 2 years out of the gym I want to get back into running but the one thing really hold me back from "pushing myself to my limits" is the though of these lads that are really fit, playing GAA that just drop dead and im kinda afraid that could happen to me and im saying to myself "do i really want to die for the sake of loosing weight" hense i hardly break a sweat when jogging!! Anybody else feel like this or any ideas?

    Cheers

Better to die on your knees than live on your feet then eh? :D

Nah just kidding. If you're concerned, you should go see a doc and have him check you out. A lad I know,a a very fit fella is just after receiving his test results of a 48 hour heart monitor (he had to wear it around for two days) for an irregular heart beat. He was told he could go back training no problem.

It probably won't effect you, my missus had a murmur too and it never affected her soprts performance, but if it's bothering you it will always be at the back of your mind, so you should go to the doc and put your fears to bed.

    Thanks Roper,

Yea might go back to Doc, but when I went before, he sent me to the hospital to get conected to a heart monitor for 10 mins, problem is it only happens to me twice a month so even if i got one of those portable ones and kept it on for a week, it might miss it and I think thats when he kinda thought it was in my head !! and just said "ahh sure these things happen, try not to think about it" !!!
