    Hi all,

    On a 5-6 meal a day diet.

One of these is a natural Glenisk yogurt and some mixed nuts.

I'm just wondering how much nuts is overdoing it? I'm getting an approc 170g tub - is a whole one of these too much per day? I'm thinking more like half would suffice?

    Thanks,

    Les

Depends on your size and daily calorie needs really.

But loosely speaking one portion is 15 small nuts, 10 medium nuts or 5 big nuts i.e. a handful in each case.

Personally I have exactly what you are describing OP but mine are about 10 pistachios and very small handful of pumpkin seeds.

i use a scoop of Linwoods milled seads in yoghurt (low fat / organic), they have several varieties, currently on a pack of their:
flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame and goji berry mix

and now Dunnes stock them you can get them for about 7.50 compard with almost a tenner from some of the health food stores

in the morning, i mix a pot of danone activia with a handful of blueberries. Add some soya milk and then a table spoon of linseed, a table spoon of pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds and then a sprinkling of wheatgerm.

God knows what its doing for me....but i'm very 'regular' now.
    :)

Nuts are high in calories but they are very good for you. You just need to watch the amount you eat . Does the tub you eat have any nutritional info on the back of it? Work out what 170g roughly equals.

I'd say 170g of nuts is probably around 1,000 calories.

If only i could lern to manage my portion control!:(

Ha I had 200g of almonds today but I reckon 50g with a chicken fillet is a good snack!

I usually split nuts into 30g portions and try to stick to that. I could easily eat 170g at a sitting, which is way too much for my daily cals to accommodate.
