South Park Returns

Yay, South Park is back this Wednesday in the US.

You can see a preview of the first episode in the new season, Tonsil Trouble here. Not sure if it downloaded correctly for me because there didn't seem to be much in it. Could be a great Cartman episode though.
The face of South Park could change forever when Eric Cartman is diagnosed with an incurable disease in the premiere episode, entitled “Tonsil Trouble.” When the support Cartman is counting on falls short, he has to take matters into his own hands.

On a related note there seems to be a director's cut of Imaginationland on dvd released on March 11.

The preview is a bit crap, but I can't wait nonetheless.

Not worth buying IMO. There's feck all extra footage, around 7 minutes. Very disappointing.

That doesn't make sense. How did Jared actually lose all that weight?

    Oh right...

They've just relaunched southparkstudios.com. Looks like you can watch every episode on it.

    Tonight's episode looks promising...

Latest one was a bit 'meh' compared to the aids one. Can't see myself watching it again anytime soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

I absolutely loved it! Thought it was far better than the first.

    Was the
    sacrifice for harvest
    thing a movie reference?

It seemed a bit Wickermanish to me.

    That was one freaky episode.

There seemed to be a movie reference in every scene (The Lottery ,Harvest Home,The Wicker Man, Children of the Corn) and while I hardly laughed I really enjoyed the show.

"The lottery" is the book/movie that it was most a parady of (in the episode a lady at the end gives the camera to her son to take a photo; in the book it was a stone)

definitely, the AIDS episode really got my hopes up for this season.

i don't think south park can be as consistant now as it once was like back in seasons 5-9.

I thought both of them were useless. It really feels like they're reaching for storys.
Cant believe so many people thought they were good

    "Sacrifice in march
    Corn have plenty starch"

apart from that it was bad

Can't believe people didn't like them. Depends on why you watch Southpark and how long you've been watching it maybe?

Could anyone else in the world have done a story that involved the media killing Spears?

I thought the Britney ep was one of the worst i've seen!
Aid's one was ok... can't wait for the rest!

What about Million little fibers ? Not Without My Anus? Pip ?

There have been a lot of Very bad episodes in the past that weren't funny and had nothing to say to the audience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Terrible episode, probably the worst since A Million Little Fibers, possibly scripted the same way, in that it was a set story line that was merged reworked.

I actually found it difficult to watch, only good bits were when they sang the Omenesque music.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

I'm mystified by the amount of people that didn't like this episode.

    Opinions eh? :)

I agree. Hopefully it can get back into gear from now on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

A million little fibers is fantastic and not without my anus is funny just for the beginning, that was the real joke and it was clear that the rest of the episode was meant to be bad. I still think it's funny just for how bad it is. Both of those episodes had very funny moments (let's search for treasure) but Britney had hardly any

Terrible, I turned it off half way through

wasn't the best, but it was pretty good

Not without my anus is one of the best southparks out there.
gah you people know nothing :D

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ponster

I'll do some digging when I'm less drunk but on the main Southpark "unofficial" forums, "million little fibres" is often voted as the worst episode ever. Everyone to their own I guess...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

First one was woeful, I wasn't giving the second much attention but it didn't seem much better.

A million little fibres is ace.

I thought the Aids one was "meh" and the Britney episode was better..

Just saw the AIDS one, must say it was very very poor... season 11 was simply genius, going to watch the britney one now hope its better :p

Forgive me if im wrong but is a million little fibres episode the one with towlie getting high and always saying "dont forget to bring a towel"? I really really liked that one! Towlie is a legend!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Poor 3rd episode IMO. Might have been funnier if I'd seen Heavy Metal 2000, but really really below par.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,978 ✭✭✭GhostInTheRuins

I thought it was excellent, the best of the lot so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

It had its moments but overall a bit meh. 5/10

Cheeses christ, I'm glad this episode was as good as it was. Massive improvement on the previous two

so true, but following on from the first two episodes it wouldn't be hard.

i think the parodies they are doing in their stories are wee bit too obvious now and they don't put as much effort into the story as they use to in my opinon of course.

that being said i liked 12x03 roll on 12x04

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

Well even with Cid i dont see this going an amazing episode. I dont know was quite dissapointed, Parts where very funny and all but i was expecting this to be a wopper episode. the "cheezing" was all very boring except when it flashed to the real world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Awesome. Some seriously funny parts in the episode, a lot better than the first two. I liked the Aids one though. The Britney episode just seemed to be all over the place, certainly one of the poorer episodes.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 9,425 ✭✭✭FearDark

Im very dissappointed with the first two episodes, the moral at the end of both shows was awful, i think south park is even getting more up its own arse... the morals dont seem to be as subtle anymore... uhh i dunno. Ayway, just about to watch 12x03...

Damn maybe i just got spoilt with season 11...
