Can you do anything while it's stalling? e.g. switch tab, does the context menu appear when you right click.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

It took 18 seconds to open this thread :D I'm not even sure of this reply will post before it times out.

However, I have sneaky suspicion that my companies network has gone down the proverbial toilet today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭Ron DMC

That recent slowness was because of Cult's "thanks" add-on, which is now removed, and so we're back at full speed again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Gandalf23

Verrrrrrry slow here too ... could be something to do with the "thank you" button Cult is playing with?

So it's not just me. I'm on ff 2.0.0.12 but it stalls for me on opera and ie so it's not a browser problem. I think it may be down to a javascript problem. I'm gonna install noscript and see if that fixes it.

Yep, it works. Noscript is a pain in the balls for sites like boards. Quick reply can't be used among with a load of other things. Although it is worth it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

    Wow

    Speeds are way improved.

Nice one for that, I'd never heard of noscript before tbh.

If only there was some way to express thanks to other users.

Horrible load times and time outs randomly since this afternoon...thought it was my ISP (BT) since some other sites were slow but seems to be consistently bad only on these forums...

Been very slow for me the last few hours - I just got a DataBase error also.

Might just be this storm system acting the tit. Or someone forgot to give the hamsters their cookies.

Looks to me like Digiweb has been falling off the interweb intermittently this evening - each time boards was down I couldn't get to Digiweb's own site either.

Managed to get in here through the Boards group link on Boards.jp. Can't get in through direct link to the main site, everything just dies and I get a "cannot connect to server" message. On FF 2.0.0.12 and BT, btw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,216 ✭✭✭Kur4mA

I'm on BT also and its FECKED. I think it could be the altfarm.mediaplex ads that are doing it. Any word from the admins or CuLT?

Digiweb routing (INEX/DEG/etc.) has been well and truely b0rked all evening (since about 6.45pm). Metro, DSL and (more worryingly) data centre customers have been affected with no acknowledgement or resolution in sight.

DEG is a DC, INEX is an Exchange, only one of them has to do with routing.

I understand a massive DOS is in progress against Digiweb.

Better yet, who has a bot farm that can take down a ISP? Thats some hardcore bandwidth.

Allow me clarify, for the pedantic. Some/most/(all?) Digiweb routes leaving DEG have been b0rked all evening. As too has their INEX peering. As too has some/most/(all?) data centre customers (dedicated, colo, boards.ie, etc.) been on/offline all evening.

Could well be a DOS (I'll assume you have inside knowledge to know that and be so pedantic!). Not something you'll see reported on their website ("No issues" being reported). Not something support staff will tell you when you call. Not something support staff will leave in voicemail to you.

To summarise. Digiweb has been screwed all evening and that is the cause of boards.ie being unavailable to many.

There's been a very, very large DDoS. I'll expect the network team to have it fully under control shortly.
