This thing looks awesome. Theirs a huge amount of hype over it on Arnies/airsoftretreat. Its likely to be pricey though at about 80$ each . But it blows away the current competition in the hand grenade department.

Could bring a whole new level of gameplay to some of our skirmishes.

i came across these when the video first came out, very very interested myself, finally a reliable reusable grenade with no parts that fly off :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

I'd love disposable nades, i think these re-useables would do my head in going off looking for wherever i've tossed it lol That looks awesome though

Don't mind the whole having to find them again bit, not until i lose one of course , the only thing thats annoying me is the price :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

Lol in the heat of battle i can guarantee you if i had one it'd end up in a tree or something :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,021 ✭✭✭Hivemind187

I reckon you'd be happy enough going into a skirmish with 20 of those and no AEG Hive lol

Could you not have it attached to a really really long piece of fishing line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭tonyj_mc

defo have to get a couple. the spray and range seems good, and with the CQB site opening would be great for it until you get hit with one :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,401 ✭✭✭Arcto

Pity the video is a cartoon and then a close up :(

Id like to see a proper one....

Thats what i was thinking. Oh, and for extra range you could swing it like a lasoo and sling it at them.

Hate to be a killjoy but I can see that being a problem after the nth person gets tangled up in it - maybe you'd be better attaching a few hooks, reeling them in and bang/knife killing them individually.

Save yourself a load of bbs, too.

Looks savage and were did you get the info in how much it would cost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

I just gotta get one of those, thats......thats........thats

stupid question, we are allowed to use these here? aren't we? please say yes..

now you can slap Iceage with the stupid spoon, or is it a trout?? :)

    Glados:p

all I can say is strap them to the tree's boys we setting up some mighty mean ambush...

or you stick it in a bean can with a spring and rig it to a wire and make a bouncing betty...

but those would make things things interesting....

I dont think the booby trap idea's would work well with this grenade. From what i could gather it needs to rotate [albeit extremely fast] as it launches bb's.

This thread has a lot of info about it http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=54204
I think the projected price is mentioned in their some were Evolute, about 80-90$ apparantly :( bit expensive considering you could get a good GBB pistol for that price but i must have one none the less.

Can't see why not. They're not pyro, and the BBs travel at around 150fps.

Indeed, "our" alternatives in the Republic are tennis balls with an imaginary blast radius  or those chemical nades Kd tried out [he wasn't impressed at all with them im sure he could give ye the low down on exactly how bad they were]

What a serious piece of kit - nice to see the constant innovation in this sport.
I will have to pick up a few when they're out.
"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

There's a review available on airsoft canada:

The guy that wrote the review is one of the beta testers, shouldn't be long now...

100 canadian, which is practically the same as the USD I think so about what, 65/70 at their prices, probably €90 by the time you ship em here. Top on the To Buy list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

    64.1912 euro according to xe.com ;)

Add in shipping costs and customs and you'd probably be looking at about 100 euro

Am I the only one not excited about these? I reserve the option to be excited about them when I see one being used in person, but until then I'm going to remain on the "100 bucks for a grenade????????" high-horse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

righty.. sounds like a challenge, I have a cunning plan, KD you are to place Dex in a room. A room no more than 12 x 12ft.

Drop in one of these babys, and watch the Dex rabbit run!!!!:D

Im looking forward to seeing them myself, If their any good i'll pick up a few but u cant help but feel the design is overly complicated, surely it would be easy enough to make a grenade that works on the same principal as the 40mm grenades., although going by the vids they really look the part.,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

they did, cant remember who makes one, but someone on here bought one recently and had it with them in gtac last week (i wasnt there, just read it here), apparently the timer was very tempermental but it was decent enough when it did go off.

I would imagine that grenade takes forever to load though, at least the tornado is only two holes that need to be filled with BBs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 311 ✭✭NakedHedgehog

I think I might get one of these as well - but I need to see more demonstrations than what they have put out so far.

I like the concept that it creates a sphere of BBs going outwards. But 100 Euro is a bit expensive. Might have to go to the US and buy a few over there instead...though bringing them back will probably be a bit difficult!

For that price i'd follow the grenade through in case i lost it, and only throw it less than 4 foot so as not to cause damage....
Still if they were common amongst people in a scim it would change an awful lot!
Bog down behind that mound will you, i think not!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Alvin T. Grey

For €100 a pop. I'd want the BBs to be smart.....

By the looks of them they will eb like the old nokia 32somethings. Chuck em against a brick wall repeatedly, pick em up and make a call :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Well they'd have to be, a grenade that can be broken when thrown is a bit silly. I'd expect them to be extremely rugged since a lot of players in the states have concrete/paved cqb sites.
IF they work (and I stress "if" here) as well in practice as they do in the videos, I could be swayed into getting one or two. But videos can lie quite easily, previews can make anything look good without the end result living up to the hype. (See: Die Hard 4.0 previews for examples).
I'm not being a downer on them, I do hope they work as I'm rather fond of grenades in CQB and very jealous of the UK getting pyro grenades for that reason. They'd fill a niche that everyone wants filled, but that has had very disappointing pretenders to the throne so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

well if its as robust and chuckable as they are making out, then 100 euro is a bargin when you consider how many uses you will get out of it. think of the money spent at predator everytime on grenades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Yeah, I agree. But only if it works as well as they say. It's not a bargain if the unit isn't going to be as effective as shown in the videos so far. There are other airsoft gas grenades that are a good price and robust enough to last but they're a bit naff. I'm just hoping this one doesn't follow suit. I would like to be impressed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Skatedude

Well maplins sells a tracker unit, you can put a little tracker key chain on it, and the hand held device gives direction and strenght to find it.
Or just stick on those key finder things that beep when you whistle, but you may give your own position away everytime someone whistles

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

wouldnt the noise of the grenade going off do that anyway? i mean once it goes off everyone is going to know that thereis gonna be someone looking for it in the place it went off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 763 ✭✭✭Dar

I assume he means before you actually throw it, ie: someone whistles and all of the grenades you're carrying on your vest go beep :).
