The guy (whatever his name was). The 3 girls are left for the semi-final next Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭Mrs. D'arcy

I reckon that was probably the right call. They're all pretty good this year though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,890 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

B O Connor said "Pat was the better singer".............pause...........crowd cheers.................then he says "but she is a star" and the blonde girl went through.

I though Pat might win it.. You know the way the public always vote to keep the guy in and they usually win show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,073 ✭✭✭jamieh

Pat didn't deserve to leave!! I thought he was the best lastnight and was consistent the whole way through!! Should defo have made the final!!

i wish they would get rid of that Deirdre one, but I bet she will win it. She is easily the worst singer left there.

I'd say Robyn or Sharon will win but hope it's Robyn. Deirdre's nothing special. Thought Pat sang well last night but hasn't really been great up to that.

while not the best singer , i really adore deirdre , her uncomfortable attempts to do sexy are really endearing
i dont think shes the worst singer either , i think leanne is the worst singer and i think she should have gone weeks ago , i find the girl incredibly tedious , she has a real goody two shoes kind of stage school kid from 3 vibe about her , she has no real talent but she knows how to smile , shes also confident and judging by her parents , ambition is in her genes too

i have heard she has a big campaign on the ground supporting her , the guy that won last yr also had a huge campaign behind him , this is a small country and if you approach your a star like a fianna fail TD running for election , you can win it no matter who crap you are

the other night was the only occasion i wanted the gormless pat to stay in

while the amasingly talented ( but so obviously dense ) robyn is the obvious winner , i wouldnt be surprised if my favourite deirdre won or we could have a repeat of last yr when the politician with the best campaign won

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭booooonzo

Deirdre is really crap, she should be gone weeks ago tbh, how can you say someone so awakard is endearing. its just cringing! and the way she gets played up to be a sexy mammy, sure she's only in her late 20's or something. she looks like a 40 year old who looks well for her age if ya get me.

Pat shouldnt of went based on his performance which was very surprising but his previous weeks had some shockers.

leanne or eyebrows as we call her is in only cause she doesnt really offend anyone but I dont think she has this "Start Quality" they seem to see in her. If she does have this big promotion on it would explain a lot.

Robyn is my favourite and although id say id never vote for this sh*te i did for her just cause i think its so funny when she talks and then sings. she has an amazing voice IMO.
she reminds me of the presenter in the eurovision on Fr.ted when he's mumbling away and then is great on stage.

Thay song sharon got was a joke last week, what was she supposed to do with it. Its a sh*e song to start with. She is very good also and it wouldnt be too bad if she won.

As for guilty pleasures! it certinely is, but it does show its the singers that make it. hope this year gives other very good singers the chance to try it next year as i know it has a brutal name because of the mcCaul Gimps and other sh*te like mickey heart.

I agree Deirdre shouldn't be there still. Did she get lost on the way into the Lovely Girls competition and end up at the you're a star auditions? Big deal if she's a mum, she sends everyone to sleep when she does a slow song and makes us cringe when she does an upbeat one. How can that be awarded the prize??? I've also heard she's doing a David O'Connor though so no doubt she'll win.

Have to say I do like Robyn but she could cut glass with that voice. Hearing her speak is so painful. Sharon is my fave, thought he gossip song was great a few weeks ago.

David O Connor! Is that who won last year? I honestly can't remember last year's show although I know I watched it. Trying to figure out who won has been annoying me.

Watching them all on The Late Late now, even if that Leanne Moore doesn't win it outright, she'l be the star. None of them are any good in the first place they have butchered songs week to week.

The Louis Walsh bigging up Leanne which Keef Duffy just happened to mention on last weeks shows the attention is on her and signing her. I suspect she already has signed. She's cute, does the sweet girl act, the name of the game will be to turn her into Irelands sweetheart even if she's booted out in the Semi's.

Pat Fitz the other night deserved to win over her, the radio station chat show in Cork was jammed with calls complaining over the obvious Keef dropping the Louis Walsh comment and Brendan O ****'s little show stealing way of dumping him out at the end.

The rest of the contestants must know it's all about Leanne at this stage, she has everything but a voice but the Ireland's sweetheart will make Louis some cash.

while pat fitz was completly gormless , i wanted him to stay
words cannot hide my disdain for leanne
the girl is a HACK , she has not got an ounce of raw natural talent , what she does have is that well groomed , well polished act , the kind they do in america , i bet she was attending stage school from she was 4
her voice is crap but what she lacks in real talent , she makes up for in ambition and confidence
you could be right about her becoming a star , gerri halliwell had no talent and couldnt sing and was ugly but she had the drive to make it

i really like deirdre , i like the sound of her voice even its not the most powerful
looking back now , i think the best act was FAUVE , not only was she gorgeous unlike leanne , she was completly natural and herself on stage and had a really charismatic easy style

Its not any of the contestants fault, but none of these people will have a career out of this shoitte tv show.

Have to say. I cant bear to watch this programme. Have been subjected to it a bit, It lacks the professionalism of x factor. The backing band are a bit better this year but the whole feel is so old fashioned. Not gonna call anyone a crap singer, its all interpritive of what you like yourself but to me, everyone with the exception of sharon, might as well be down the local pub just getting up to sing an auld song for their friends.
By no means is it easy to get up as i know all too well, however, there seems to be a very big lack of styles of music. Nothing differant or special about it. It just feels like an attempt to try do something like x factor.

I mean, the only judge with any credibility is Michelle. Brendan is a comedian. Who never did well. Keith, lets face it - was a voiceless part of the ronan keeting experience - however did like him on telly as an actor. Its just crap telly. Sorry:o

Kind of like an estate agent playing up the current property market really....they're hardly going to turn around and call it what it is.

I really utterly despise this show. I can't stand the ITV show(s) it apes and the Irish take on it, the production values and the muppets presenting/judging it just sends it completey over the edge.
But hey, it's popular, a lot of people seem to like it so what can I say? I just wish RTÉ would consider people who don't like this crap and stop scheduling it during prime viewing times and cutting back in with results and such...the format is old and busted, put this on kids TV and move on...

I'm sorry but there's thousands of girls with a voice like hers imo. Robyn has a voice that nobody in Ireland could match. Seriously, why would you go to see Leanne sing or buy her record? There's nothing to separate her from the many average singers out there now.

I think Leanne is a **** singer I included her when I said they all can't sing. they all are read my post again for these points espicially where I say she has everything but a VOICE. She's cute, sexy, she'l sell a few singles and make some dosh for Louis then slide into TV presenting etc.

Whatever happend to the winner from last year. The guy who was a jockey or worked in a stable from Wexford? This bloke is and was a shining example that this TV show will wreck and distroy your dreams.

All these contestents are KAROKAE singers. I've had a beer or 2 in karokae bars on my holidays and heard much better talent than what i saw on the LLS last night.

guy last yr came to nothing because he had no talent anyway and had the personality of pat that was sent home last sunday

he only won last yr because he had a campaign on the ground that would put a fianna fail td to shame

I think he was talking about Chris whatshisface who won a few years back and went to the eurovision. (As in Lucia Evans AND Chris whatshisface.)

Speaking of Lucia Evans, I remember when her first single came out (dont ask me what it was) she did a signing in HMV in Cork and my boyfriend happened to be there and she was just sitting there alone cos no one cared. It was quite sad really.

Watching the semi-final there, no one deserves to win based on what I've seen so far. Even Robyn wasn't great.

Its some journey from Zimbabwe to Ireland, that makes her a traveller of sorts.:D

Clear evidence if there ever was any that your campaign wins it for you.

Leanne faces is plastered everywhere in Limerick.

Deirdre is awful, another good campaign behind her.

The final should be between Robyn and Sharon, this is stupidity of the highest order.

Also what is with the blatant pushing of leanne from the judges.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,541 ✭✭✭duridian

I also really thought it would be Robyn and Sharon as well for the final two, can't believe that Sharon has gone tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

I went through Limerick on on a bus a few days ago and Leanne has posters everywhere so I'm not surprised she got through. It's not based on talent though.

Deirdre was pretty awful tonight, went off key on her first song I think.

They are all pretty average, but Robyn and Sharon are clearly better than the other two and I'm really surprised Sharon is gone.

I was watching American Idol and the Irish girl in that makes the You're a Star contestants look like a joke. So either she is the only great singer in Ireland or the great singers aren't entering You're a Star! I think it might be the latter!

leannes almost general election style campaign is well known , ive been saying that for weeks , guy that won last yr had the same thing going
ireland is very small and were even more parochial so the most talented one has a less chance of winning

i dont agree with the post about deirdre having a well organised campaign , shes doing well because shes very nice and the kind of people who mostly watch this show ( traditional older than you might think middle irelanders ) are likely to vote for someone they think is nice

besides deirdre clearly does not have the fiercely slick determination that leanne does, nor is she from as wealthy a backround as leanne
that girl would put an american stage school kid to shame

I wouldnt say leanne is from a wealthy background, to be fair to her she aint rich, up till a few years ago she lived round the corner from me and I dont live in a rich area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭KerranJast

I was out on the lash in North Cork last night and there were posters for Leanne and Deirdre up in shops despite the place being ~45 and ~60 miles from Limerick and Clon respectively. Whoever said they had PR machines to put FF to shame is dead right.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭idlesupernova

I read in the paper Leanne broke up with her BEBO boyfriend but he'l be there to support her regardless or some other ****e. What clean cut single high profile man is out there for Louis Walsh to arrange for them to "Hit it off" at a charity event?

to be clear on a few points -

I refered to Lucia Evans earlier - and Not as a traveller.
I was referrring to Chris Doran from Waterford, a settled traveller who bounces in a local club.

i see in the sunday indo today that the show is going down the tunes in RTE's eyes, and they are likely to pull it.

Thank God someone has finally seen sense! I realise that Ireland is significantly smaller than the UK and US and that RTE have I smaller budget to work with but the show, in my eyes, has always been very karaoke, in production and talent-wise. We just don't have the talent pool to choose from, or the really talented ones don't enter. (See earlier post about Irish girl in American Idol!)

I feel sorry for those who enter it thinking that they will get something out of it. Brian Ormond did alright out of it, but he also entered Pop Idol, and he's not singing now, just presenting a sub-standard show. (Fair play to him all the same.) The Chris fella was on some show recently saying he's been working in America, but I doubt anything will come from that. Mickey Joe is a working musician and I'd say he's happy enough with that but it's not fantastic! As for last year's winner, did he ever release anything?

It's time for a change. RTE will never produce an American Idol of X Factor. Maybe they should leave that genre to those who can produce and slick, professional production.

i was watching the other night and after most of the performances i sat there in total shock of how bad they were....and then the judges were all 'o yea that was great...defo your best so far' well if they were the best id hate to have seen what they were like at the start! that pat lad was crap n the deirdre one isnt much better! i like robyn because i think shes the only one that can actually sing and the one that went out last night wasnt half bad either...but if these contestants were on xfactor etc they wouldnt make it past the first round never mind into the final being told there so wonderful

in the irish star today and there's talk of TV3 poaching the show from RTE after this series. Could TV3 not just make their own music talent show, or even make an irish version of the xfactor.

They should just show the X Factor like they do already with more emphasis on auditions etc in Ireland with an Irish presenter for the show that will be shown in Ireland (like when Cat Deeley did the links on American Idol auditions on ITV)

So then who will win, I am going to say Leanne purely based on her campaign.
