Ab Curls on the ball are effective, also the bridge and the one legged bridge.

Lie on your stomach raise up, keep back straight and contract your abdominal muscles for a minute, proceed again but this raise your left leg out and alternate between legs.

Bridge is more for the upper abs.

Overhead press, or just pick up something heavy and hold it over your head.
Fully engage your abdominal and back muscles, really crush them together.

Overhead squats, difficult to do so start very light, again concentrate on engaging your core muscles as stabilisers.

imo you will struggle to strengthen your core muscles using them to move your body, you must use them as stabilizers.
    I'm open to correction though

Diet is the most important part of getting a flat stomach

    Yes.

If you have a chinup bar you can do leg raises, just hang and lift your knees to your chest. I can do this on my stairs hanging from the landing. Or I can get 2 chairs and put my hands on them and do it there.

But if you are trying to get rid of a belly then time is much better spent doing other weighted exercises.

I may have been doing it wrong but the bridge never worked for me, granted the one legged ones did something for my legs but that really wasn't the intended target.

True, but I think the OP is on about building Ab strength. Planks would be good. Keep doing them about 3 times a day and you dhould notice the difference - just make sure to keep the back straight.

Edit: Or you could just work on getting your technique right. Maybe not a bad idea.

lol, good work, I was just about to do the exact same thing!! :)

Don't worry OP, you won't get muscly from using weights, even if you are a girl. We just don't have enough testosterone...

Are you in a gym or are you just looking for things to do from home??

Lifting heavy weights is great for losing fat, but not necessarily weight, i.e. you will put some muscle on, a better goal might be a certain body fat %. But like others said, do not worry about getting "too big" it won't happen overnight, testosterone etc. Most lads lifting are trying their very best to put on muscle and find it difficult, it is much harder for women. If you ever did get "too big" you would simply lift less and the muscle goes away, but it will not happen. The bodybuilding women you see are lifting all day long and taking savage amounts of steroids.

After a few years heavy training you might get a body like the women in fitness equipment informercials what most would call "toned".

    More like this

    And not this!

Most men couldnt get that big without steroids!

I lost a lot of fat but remained 12stone for 18months constant. I am not big at all, you wouldnt even guess I lifted, muscle is denser than fat, about 3 times denser I think. So though I lost almost 3 stone it is not like that volume of fat on my belly went on my arms, more like 1 stones worth, all over.
