For someone wanting to lose weight, which of the following the more important in low fat milk:

A very low fat content but a slightly higher 'carbs that sugar' content.
    or
Slightly lower 'carbs that sugar' content, but a slightly higher fat content.

The amounts are quite small, but as they say in Tesco, every little helps;)

Don't go for dairy, full stop - choose soya. Takes a short while to get used to it but it'll do you good in the long term. If you want to seriously loose weight, don't take in the fats.

Not sure what you mean here, don't take in any fats?

If you want to lose weight, don't list to that post.

Milk's totally fine. I've dropped a sh!t ton of weight before and still been able to drink it. Your weight loss will come from an overall change in your diet. Not in the varying macro ratios in different milks. How does these differences come about anyway? Are different cows giving out different milk??

What's your opinion on supermilks and skimmed milks etc Hanley?
Part of me thinks just drink nature milk the way nature made it, another thinks well nature made it fatty for calfs needing to put on weight, man made it better and more healthy for humans with the supermilk stuff.

I'm loath these day's to eat anything I couldn't make out of ingredients in my own kitchen. IE no e numbers , preservatives or other crap, Supermilk sounds great.. but is unnatural..dunno what to think.

If you are male I would avoid soya products, said to increase estrogen, so not great if you are trying to build muscle (which I would recommend if you are trying to lose fat)

Actually many would recommend a diet relatively high in fat for losing fat. Helped me a lot. I do not mean eat millions of chips, I mean lower your calories overall, but have a relatively high proportion of them coming from "good fats", like nuts.

Hmm milk in supermarkets was destined for the offspring of another species! I drink skimmed, lower in kcals, higher in protein, lower in fat. I like my fats, so get them from other sources. I like my milk so skim allows me drink more for the same kcals.

Just drink the whole milk /thread.

Seriously you can go into the ins and outs of how milk isn't "supposed" to be consumed by humans or all those "evil" saturates in there or even attack the carb content, but damn, it truly has a nice profile of protien/fat/carbs that you can't beat for the price, and it tastes good too :D. Unless your lactose intolerent its fine, simple as (IMO anyway..)

And just ask Mark Rippetoe, he highly recommends anybody looking too add muscle drink lots (and lots) of straight whole milk.

^^I think Randall Strossen got in there before him on that one ;)

At Longfield, I dunno man. I just drink supermilk. I think slimline's way too watery.

It doesn't bother me much, I was really saying skim milk doesn't bother me due to it being processed/"unnatural". I get enough bovine fats in cheese.

He is a mod on this forum, talking about milk.

I wasn't saying there's any reason not to drink skim milk, I drink super milk as well as whole, I guess it doesn't matter because most people are after the protein in milk so w/e...

Indeed, first and foremost. I presumed people would know who he was, but I didn't know he was actively posting on forums.

You can get "cappuccino milk" which is higher in protein than most. Depending on the time of year and animal feed cows milk will have higher or lower protein at certain times. The protein makes it froth better when steamed.
