He means that it's wrong forum. It's about conspiracy theories like Kennedy death or Illuminati.

I think you should ask for removing it to "After Hours".

I agree with that aggressive drunk people thing. People are going out to have some fun or relax, not to fight or be beaten because of somebody's idiotic ambitions or something.

It's really annoying but I think there's nothing we can do.
No matter where are you from it always happen in the public.

The best thing we can do is avoiding cheap pubs.

why cant someone start a thread called "what I like about Ireland" here goes, I will start, will I? I like Ireland cos its the country of my birth and I feel greatful to the brave heros who went before us and died for this lovely country. They gave us freedom to be ourselves. we dont take sides in anyone else's wars. We have produced some of the best music in the world (excluding dustin) comedians, poets, writers the world has ever known. On a personal note. I live in a small community where everyone will still rally around when someone is in trouble. I live in an estate of 32 houses and I know in my heart that if I needed anything, be it money or a cup of sugar, there is not one house that would refuse me. I am glad that I have my family living near me. They didnt have to emigrate as some of my forefathers had to do. Now, when people go abroad its because they want to see the world, not because the had to. I still find that most people that you meet in the course of my day are friendly and obliging. I think that people in general respond well if you are friendly and kind to them. I just wish that our own people would stop knocking our country. I love Ireland and I am proud to be Irish.

There are a lot of things i like about Ireland but there are a few things i hate about it.

I hate the way Ireland is regarded for its "Drink". That annoys me so much. Why do some people head out at weekend to get "completly wasted" where is the enjoyment in this? I envy foreign countries attitude to drinking. For example when i was in Belgium on my holidays last year, i noticed a vending machiene which had soft drinks but also cans of beer on a street. In ireland we couldnt do this as underagers would completly abuse this. I really wish we could have a postive and mature attitude towards alcohol.
That is just one thing i dislike about Ireland!

I like england alot. better transport system, better infrastructure, better healthcare, better education system. People power is more in action there too. You dont see many policitians in tribunals over there.

(what have you tried to do? so many free museums, so many cafes, restaurants, sports like hiking, cycling, sailing, car racing in Mondello). There is a massive amount of things to do, but you need to do them.

Yes there is plenty to do, but if for example i suggested to my friends (or anyone in my year) to go on a hike they would all want to bring alcohol!

Other countries don't rely on pubs as much as ireland to socialise!

Then why not say it's an alcohol free event?

In your year? You're obviously underage so, you'll learn a bit when you grow up that not everyone needs alcohol to have fun.

I asked about things you hate about Ireland....so anyone who hates anything about Ireland should leave? C'mon, there must be something you hate.Tell us all and i'll reply by telling you to leave. You can do better than that old stock answer "leave then".

Irelands not a country anymore it's a monopoly board. Exact same hotel/apt block/supervalu complex everywhere you go now. Hate.

Your OP didn't contain any questions.

You came on and posted a statement about why you hate Ireland, then ended it with "I could go on and on". Obviously there'll be things people don't like about any country, but if you're so unhappy here just leave. Easy as that.

I don't see how you could expect any other replies when you post such a thread worded in such a way.

I think Bono summed it up best. When an American looks at the big house on the hill, he says, "That's going to be me one day, on that hill." An Irishman looks up and says "I'm going to get that ba5tard on the hill!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,756 ✭✭✭comongethappy

There are cetain things you'll hate in every country you live in. It's just life. Still, I know I can't help but think things like, why can't the states have a simple tax system like Ireland instead of confusing forms? Or why do many Irish people define fun by how wasted they can get?

So, I suppose the things I hate in Ireland are:

    1) How expensive everything is here
    2) Drink attitudes of many people
    3) Litter - it's a big problem here

    Things I love about Ireland:
    1) The craic
    2) The beauty of the country (one you look past no 3)
    3) The opprotunities the country has for it's citzens and residents in terms of education and employment

There's no need to get on the OP's back for pointing out his/her pet hates, everyone gets fed up with certain things now and again. After all, Irish people are the greatest complainers ever!:D

I agree, I wish people could be more original and less predictable. But in fairness, you said "I could go on and on" - there's a big difference between that and "anyone who hates anything about Ireland" so I think it's a fair response to you. Seriously? Is there anything at all keeping you here? Und sind Sie wirklich ein Berliner? (That's probably wrong :o)

As for me, I think Ireland is a pretty great place to live in - yes, there are things about it that make Father Ted seem like an exceptionally accurate documentary about Ireland (e.g. the roads near Cork International Airport are like something from the wilds of west Kerry) but the quality of life is good, the pace of life is relaxed (unless you live in Blanchardstown and have to drive to work in the city centre), it's generally friendly and warm, the sense of humour is absolute quality... actually I too could go on and on.

I hate the way there's one law for certain people and their friends who pay no tax because they don't live here and for the little people like everyone else.
