DTT Trial - anything new before the finish?

With the "official" end of the DTT trial supposedly coming in August I am wondering will anything extra happen before then? Teletext, interactivity etc? Can the Humax box do these things? Do any of the official members of the trial who may be regular posters here have any info if available?

Surely it's not too hard to supply the normal "classical" teletext on the DTT service? If Chorus can do that, I'm sure anyone else with half a clue could too. Though saying that I'm not sure if it's possible to exist over HDMI or on any HD transmissions...

Digital teletext now working on RTE

On a number of channels I'm getting no or bad signal. Did a rescan, no change.

It seems to be the HD, SD, and sports channels mainly hit.

I have a trial box and got an email today telling me to re initiallise it and giving instructions on how to do this.
I've just done this and it has changed the sequence of channels and eliminated the extra test ones I seemed to have previously (DVT -H?).
The channels now match exactly the layout as on www.digitaltelevision.ie

    TELEVISION
    RTE1
    RTE2
    TV3
    TG4
    Channel 6
    cBBC – test
    cBeebies - test
    BBC3 – test
    BBC4 – test
    BBC News24 – test
    Sky News
    Sky Sports 1
    Extreme Sports
    UKTV History
    Setanta Golf
    Setanta Ireland
    HD Ireland

    RADIO[/B]
    Radio 1
    RTE 2fm
    RTE Lyric fm
    RTE Raidio Na Gaeltachta
    Today FM
    RTE Radio 1 Extra
    Newstalk 106 - 108
    Dublin’s 98FM
    East Coast FM
    Spin 1038
    DAP All 80s
    DAP Mocha
    RTE Choice
    RTE 2XM
    Phantom FM
    FM104

How are you activating the digital text? The red button? Screenshots?

Is there anything extra on Digital Text?

I have a Sony RDRH870 DVD and pressing the Teletext button just brings up regular looking teletext, but with the occassional ad for the RTE Guide / Hyundai on the right side of the screen. It also doesn't appear to have as many pages as 'regular' teletext.

By pressing the text the button on freeview STB remote

Text content seems the same just converted to digital format,
picture in top right corner and text on left and bottom as per other digital text channels.
Only "different/new feature" I can see is the ability to change channel between RTE1 / RTE2 with yellow button while displaying text.

No Red button features but usual text shortcuts using colour buttons when in text.

No ability to take screen shots on Set Top Box I'm afraid - I suppose I can take a picture and upload if you want to have a look.

My email probably went to my work address. Unfortunately (?) I'm off for a couple of weeks.

Can you send me the details on how to reinitialise the box, please? A simple rescan obviously isn't enough.

Many thanks. Got all channels back. No text either. It must be to do with the Humax.

I'd imagine this text is the first part of "phase 4". Hopefully they'll roll out some kind of red-button activity as well and not just have teletext as the extent of their interactive services.

Anyone getting 'encrusted' subtitles on BBC4.......?
    Can't get rid of them..
As with other posters: No teletext on Humax.

When I press TXT on my remote (I have to hold it down for 2 seconds to get it to work), a "loading" screen comes up and then the service eventually loads and looks quite good. Basic, but good. It's good to still have TV pictures while looking, and it is very fast flicking between ONE and TWO while interactive.

Could you take a picture of this. I would like to see what it looks like.

What is the shutter speed you need to photograph a TV picture?
1/15 of a second and slower is stuck in my head for some reason.

Bit confused here! Are people getting text via a Freeview box from the DTT trial? A bit nuts considering the Humax is meant to be the official trial box! I too wasnt getting text when pressing text on the Humax remote.

Pressing the text button on the remote for the Humax just gives a message saying that text is unavailable.

Yes exactly - maybe they have text feature disabled on Humax until they are ready for the trial to test. I suppose there is not much they can do on all the freeview boxes out there..

I see the error about bad signal is happening again on the Humax from Ch 12 upwards.

EDIT: Reinitializing it again fixed it.
