    Brothers,

I'm going to change the car and was looking at the model I want at the weekend. Now, I'm not going to get all "petrol-head" here as there is a motors forum for that.

What's eating me is the colour of it.

    Is red a wimmins colour?

I'd say it depends on the car. I like red BMWs with sweet wheels. There's also a nice red Merc in the carpark in work but that is infact owned by a wimmin

i have a red car but the only problem is the red fades and you have to use that bloody t-cut stuff on it the whole time, said care is now nearly pink with one very red shiny door

    Damn.

    Seriously you're asking about colour?

Anyway, this should go in the wrong threads thread....:D
Silver or black are always the best sellers.

I have to say my dad has a 8 year old escort that is still as red as the day he got it with minimal of care.

To be truthful I have never like red as a colour of car. there have been very few instances where I thought red suited a car

    Hey GinnyJo,

    Less of your lip.;)

The car is exactly what I've been looking for but I don't want to be seen as some kind of modern Penelope Pitstop due to it being a wimmins colour. Therefore, I asked the brothers for advice.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭Ginny

Lemme guess since the Brothers will know more about the colour of the car?
    :D
Anyway as a Driver I'd never buy red, fades too much, mines iron grey right now, I'd only go for a variation of silver or black.

Oh get over yourself ya big girls blouse.
If the car is exactly what you want, what does it matter if it's red.

As we are discussing the colour of a car and not the colour of wall paint, clothes, carpet, hair, etc. its a manly topic and OK.

Personally red isn't bad but there is maintenance with it over time. Try and get metallic paint if you can!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,324 ✭✭✭✭Cathmandooo

my car number one is wine, my bro owned it first, so it's close enough to red so I'll go for red being manly.

car number two is a weird latte colour

yes I have two cars*, I rock :D

*I own neither but still ;)

I wouldn't see a red car as feminine. A car is a car at the end of the day! (Except those disgusting pink/yellow ones. Come on!)

Now if you wear a pink shirt whilst driving said car we may have to kill you! :D

Ferrari Red is definitely not feminine.

I don't know. This may be controversial but there's something unmanly about ferraris. Like the man has to have one to compensate for something else. :)

I was actually going to say soemthing similar earlier on. Unless a ferrai is racing around an F1 track I don't them in red

I don't like Ferrais at all, never have I think they're quote girly in general...

It’s hard to say whether red is acceptable unless we are told the make & model. For example:
Red Nissan Micra – You’re a named driver on Yore Ma’s policy
    Red Fiat Punto – Ladyboy!
Red Ferrari whatever – OK, but screams “I have a short todger!”
Red BMW 320I – Just right.

Forget about a car, I've managed to make it into my 30's without ever driving or needing a car, that €50 or €60 a week it costs to run can be put to better use... like drinking!

the answer to brother smashey's paint dilemma is simple.

pop down to the gym; what is the most popular color in the car park ? *

just match the color ... and you'll be sure to fit** right in :)

    * most likely to be lavender
** ha ... didja see what I did there ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Metallic red on the right car is teh secks,

Beemers, Alfas (rosso not that pink/purple red), Ferarris (still deadly don't care what anyone says), Nobles, Peugot 406 coupé (pinninfarina design yummy), some Audi's.

However, black is still the best colour in the world ever for a car, end of!! (provided it's clean though)

Silver is over done tbh and doesn't look well after a few years.
White is starting to make a comeback and I for one am happy!! (see 911, Lambos, AMV8 Vantage, Type R Hondas)
