Yesterday was 30 years since Rovers first won the cup. It was our 6th time reaching the final. In the semi final there was 3 replays vs Cobh.

I remember getting to hold the cup when the squad visited our school. They were mobbed!:pac:

Good results tonight. I know it's early but Shams losing 2-0 to UCD surely that's 3 points too many dropped for the league. Nice to see Derry drop 2 points as well

Derry are playing the best football in the league right now tbf. We've got a real fight on our hands to keep ahead of them.

Tomorrow night is a must win vs drogs.

Derry fan here. To be honest, wouldn't call tonight a dropped 3 pts, away to Pats a very tough game and more than happy with the 1pt.

Away to yourselves on May Day will be a real biggie.

Just heading out the door now with me young fella to see the game.
Hope they come out all guns blazing against the Drogs.
Bringing my nephew for the first time too.

    Hup!

After Elding nodded in, a few of the Drogs jumped the fence, but a few were in the home side before that and things kicked off.
I was down at the VW end when 3 Drogs ran up by us. Saw them getting 'escorted' from the ground.
The kids thought it was a riot.
    Small one though.
Shocking defending for the last goal, shocking

I went to my first Sligo Rovers game with my 2 year old and hubby. Great atmosphere and the wee man loved it - even getting into the shouting, singing and dancing.
I think we'll become avid fans!!
    And they won!!

P.S Good luck with the rugby today........ may the best team win......:)

great to read your post and hear of new supporters to LOI football. If we could get more like yourself supporting home teams and away from supporting foreign ( English ) teams. It would really benefit the game and standards of football in the country.

Pity about the dropped points but at least Pats and Derry didn't gain ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,705 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

Pats dropped another 2 points vs bohs last night. Derry are the team we should be worried about, they've been in great form since we beat them on the opening day of the season.

Tough away trip against shams next up for ourselves. As poor as shams have been I' d happily settle for a point there.

The Drogs Chairman has been quoted as saying that those involved in the crowd trouble will be banned from all future home games.

What about away games, or is this something for the FAI? That's if they even care about the League.

Disgraceful coverage of the events of last Saturday in The Champion. Sensationalist Bull****.

Rovers fans should boycott that rag.

Even their highlights of previous incidents involving visiting team buses was very questionable. Read like it was Rovers fans that were to blame, when as far I can remember, or was aware that it was people that had no association with the club that were to blame/involved.

What were they saying I missed it.

Gonna head to the game against Shams I think on Friday

I see the Cup game against Waterford is on Thursday 30th cos there's something on in the RSC that weekend. I can't see too many Rovers supporters heading to Waterford on a Thursday night.

Agreed ref the moving of the Waterford Cup game to the Thursday night - bizarrely though will suit myself as living up the road in Clonmel - would have made for a good weekend though if it was on the Saturday night.

The monday match with Derry City is now a must not lose game. If Derry open up a points gap between us they'll be hard caught given our patchy form of late.

A win would be great but under the circumstances a draw will do.

A comprehensive victory and the biggest win of the season for me. Hoepfully Derry will fall away now, after their second defeat to us this season.

Derry are nothing special and I don't think we'll have to compete with them this season. Pat's are our main threat.

If we can play like that from now on we'll walk the league. Weird to say it but probably better off not starting Elding as when he's on we just seem to love hoofing it up to him, far better when we're playing it on the ground like today showed.

I wouldn't be so cocky there, because anything can happen during the remainder of the season. But as you said, I do think it's likely that Pats will be our main threat.

I see Pascal Millien doing the rounds in the papers saying he may leave Rovers to go back and play in Haiti. Was chatting to a Rovers staff member this morning he said it's the first they heard of it.

He had a great game on Monday but I find he runs hot and cold, great one match, lazy sod the next. Don't know if this is a bit of a ploy for any reason?

LINK - Yeah sorry it's the rag of The Sun I have to link to but it's the only online link I have.

    Read it again!!
Says he would be returning to play for Haiti if he gets picked!
Same as Boco did when playing for Benin.

Did you read it at all, or did you just look at the picture?

It says nothing of the sort

Eeek. I blame third hand information and those red top papers (and possibly my Bulmers hangover) for that relatively large conclusion jump.

I shall never drink read again.

Even if this was the case, he wouldn't be a massive loss.
