I'm going to add this into the charter but will post it fresh and sticky it first so the regulars see it.

When someone posts a thread or question and they don't clearly state their training goals i think it would be a good idea to have that as the first question we ask them.

I have seen it in a few threads over the last few days where people are instantly jumping in with questions or advice that may not even be suitable.

This doesn't help anyone and sure as hell will not help the OP.

Finally, i understand we all have our own way of doing things but i want to see people posting advice that will actually help an OP as oppossed to push your own style or training/interests/systems.

    Thats about it guys! :D

Good idea. How about a sticky saying "What are your goals". then have a list of usual ones that come up. It could a moderated closed/open thread where it gets edited and updated.

People sometimes get half hearted answers, a regular poster might have made a great post only the day before, then it is asked again, so the new thread poster may get a blunt answer, which can even appear rude.

Goals could include stuff like "I want to tone" and then have the explanation of what toning really is. "should I do weights before cardio in the gym" etc.

The stickied post could have points argued in it, but updates at the top, or maybe a separate thread discussing the stickied post.- just to keep it clean and have no bickering in it.

I am a member of forums on certain hobbies, on one forum there were so many newbie questions that they were talking of forcing people to take a quiz before being able to post. On others you could not post for 10 days, and this forces people to use the search function (or go off and annoy another forum!). Problem is the search will turn up 100's of posts, and you have to trawl through them all to get all the info, and 95% of the stuff is just repeated over and over.

Could even have case scenarios. Joe 30, 6ft 15stone, only wants to workout 3hours a week, no gym, goal to lose fat etc.

Lads this was suggested during the forum discussion thread!

    Celestial's suggestion http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055222751&page=3&highlight=crossfit
    My suggestion http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055222751&page=4&highlight=crossfit

Anyway I think it's a great idea and would give visitors to the forum a great base to start off from and they may even add suggestions if they find other ways of incorparting training techniques that fit into their training goals!

if it isn't, it was. Daveirl stickied it at one point however as per usual most people ignored it as it was there first time posting on the forum. However as most threads are started by noobies chances are we will still have quite a few problems
