Sprained Ankle ?

    hey guys,

Am I blind or is there a medical forum ? Sorry mod and please move if there is.

Last wednesday I was at taekwondo and managed to jump and land very ackwardly on my foot, rolled it badly.

I don't think any bones are broke but its swelling up badly and I can't walk on it. Got a pair of crutches from someone here and hobbling my way around.

Anyways, I really can't walk on it but its more or less painless unless I try and walk on it.

I'm hoping its just muscle damage and my TKD instructor (who is also a chiropracter) doesn't think so either. Although he still wanted me to go to the hospital/doctor.

The problem is I'm abroad, don't have insurance and really cannot afford it. And no I am not kidding I really cannot afford it.

I never did an injury like this before so ... anyone tell me if this sounds like just a sprain or something ? Its being 3 days since I did it and it does seem to be getting a little better but I still cannot put pressure on it.

See a doctor, even if it's not broken, it will need physio or it'll never be the same again. And if it IS broken .... even worse.

don't even THINK about moving this to the medical forum :p

Sorry, but personal medical advice is very much against the ethos of the biology/medicine forum.

But if you're worried, go to a hospital A+E. They'll bill you, rather than demanding cash up front.

I'm really not trying to rub salt in it, but it reinforces how important it is to get health insurance before you go away.

Most young people don't, but it's so important,

Just stay off it until the swelling goes down - give it a couple of weeks and if it's still very painful you need medical attention.

OP, medical advice isn't given out anywhere on boards.

    Get to a doctor.

    Locked.
