Unless the big bad dedicated teams are frightened of average joe skirmisher beating them, any league should be widely known and publisised properly.

Even a half assed lets start a league post would be better than this,

Mystery works for lost, and that new lobster film, but not in my books :D

I'm interested in a league but I shouldnt have to e-mail someone just to find out if its in the works or just testing the water for interest.

Were Running a League independent of any organisations/groups.

It will be based on the standard 8 man team and will comprise of a few milsim elements.

In short, a league for the players run by the players for the whole of ireland and not politicialy attached to anyone, while also not excluding anyone.

All those who are interested in participating or signing up a team just have to email us and we'll have a info packet sent to them shortly.

So far its got a good response, 4 teams, 1 site and a few single players have already shown a lot interest, and thats just in the first 24 hours.

I can see this becoming very popular in the near future.

Just get a group of 8 together as a temporary team.

We'll need a while to get 8 members with full gear.

I already have my team picked out. Just got to bribe some, blackmail others, and nobble all of the other applicants and then they might let me join.

Actually I would find it hard to single out the Americans as honouring the unknown fallen. And after a little wikiepdia search I found that the Danes were the first followed by (in no particular order ) Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iraq, India, Indonesia, Italy, Lithuania, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Venezuela

My bad. Must have missed the launch. Anyhoo, can I get info on that. Since the night game I've been wanting to get into competition.
Learned a lot of what I thought I knew was wrong, looking forward to doing it properly.

You'd be best off speaking to Dar or Dr.Pepper about it. I'm focusing on a second project codenamed: "The Games" so I dont have all the details on the League.

It should be a good 'un though.

Great plan a players league run by the teams. The contractors are in. Is the league open to any 8 man team with no restrictions. is there going to be age limit??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭sci-ops

mmm, I'm sorry to come across as a doubting thomas here...but are there currently enough Airsofters in Dublin (and surrounding areas) for 2 airsoft leagues?? Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to participating in either one, and while I have admittedly only started skirmishing recently, the only time I have seen a very large turnout was at the HRTA birthday bash, and that was roughly 90 players. I am guessing that is a very large portion of current airsofters at the minute.

Would it not be better if there was only the 1 league? at least for the time being until Airsoft really really starts to catch on.....

    In a word: No.

    In a word: No.

    In a word: Yes.

Sci-ops: You are correct in your assement of the numbers of players currently available to play probably wont be able to support 2 proper leagues.
However it appears we have a VHS / BetaMax issue occuring

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Alvin T. Grey

I'll play anywhere anytime for any reason. If I were a betting man, I'd lay odds that I'm not the only one. Who cares if there are two three or four leagues. It's the gaming I'm interested in, and if an event is organized, I'll play it.

Slightly off-topic question for you: If there are two leagues and not quite enough players for both, how will that leave time for 'common or garden, having-a-laugh' skirmishing for the likes of me that just want to get started without joining a team and having to negotiate a defence budget with herself indoors? Or will it amount to only a few days out of the possible playable days in the coming year?

(Given the mood on this board the last 2 days: I'm only asking! :) )

I think the only way a league would work is to use the venues on off days to prevent the exact situation you describe. As for a lack of players due to a game the next day etc?
Heck the teams have to practice sometime.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,052 ✭✭✭Dr_Pepper

Yeah your both right and raise good questions.
The site operators in other countries devide the days for skirmishing into team/member days and walk-ons. Last time we went to predator they had 1 day in the whole month for walk-ons.

Hopefully that will not be the case here as i enjoy a good skirmish with a bunch of randomers, while enjoying good team days. I myself skirmish on saturdays at HRTA with the public and train on sundays as a team.

If others adopt a similar approach then it should be ok.
However what each team/individual does is up to them ultimately.

I agree, while I very much doubt the ability of the current airsoft community to support two leagues, at least it gives the Contractors the opportunity to win two leagues this year ;)
