Well we're only just over Valentines day and now its time to treat our mammies. I want to get my mother a good perfume as she doesnt have one. I really dont know what she'd like. Does anyone have any suggestions? She's in her late 50's if that makes any difference.

I think Elizabeth Arden perfumes are meant to be popular with the 50+ age category.

It's my mums 50th birthday in March too. What the hell will I get for that? She doesn't really wear jewellery, we're going away for her birthday so i can't get flights somewhere, I always buy her expensive cosmetics (Jo Malone for Christmas) which i don't think she uses.

My friend got her mum a ring with all her siblings birthstones in it for her 50th. What do people think of that? My dad thinks she might wear it if it was from us and was meaningful like that!

Mother's day = meal out or cook a meal and spoil her. Don't think it needs a present really.

I have to spoil my mum this year.
I am leaving Aberdeen to drive home the day after mother's day, so she is taking a couple of days of work to fly over, and help me move my stuff and keep me company on the drive back.
I won't meet her until the day after but don't know what to buy her!

You can't go wrong with Chanel No. 5

I never have any idea what to get my poor mother on this day. I always want to get her something special that she really likes, 'cos you know the way mums are and stuff. She always declares she wants nothing though! I was thinking about a box/basket that has some of her favourite things in it like sweets, little bottle(s) of wine, etc etc. I think I'm gonna start prepping that now:p

We don't do mother's day in our house.

Mum would kill us for buying into corporate manufactured card selling bull****.

Certainly 2 of my over 50 years old female relatives love that brand so there may be something to this hypothesis....

Chanel No 5. Its quite expensive but mammy's seem to really like it.

Im not sure what to get my Mum this year, think I will just get her a hair voucher. The woman has everything anyway.

How about a gift voucher for a beauty salon? I got that for my mother a few years ago and she loved it as it's not something she would get herself or go to without a reason.

I'm tempted to go the gift voucher route myself this year but I just feel it's not personal enough. I know she likes getting flowers so maybe I'll throw that into the mix too as I don't know if any of my siblings will get her any.

If perfume is the route you're taking I too suggest Chanel No 5. My mother is very hard to buy for but loved this perfume. She's 60+

I've no idea what to get her and I've only one week before I've to get something over to her. Thank heavens for the internet!

    its my 9th.

I spend the afternoon with my mam, my siblings and my children, (the hubby is with his mam) and at night time I go out with my friends for a few drinks...

I'm going to be at a hen for Mother's Day. I have no idea what to get, because I went a bit mad at Christmas so she has all the smellies etc. she'll want for a long time, and she considers proper flowers an obscene waste of money. I think I'll just get a card and some scratchies, and then send herself and Dad off somewhere later in the year. It's his 60th about 3 weeks before father's day (which is always a day or two either side of my brother's birthday - damn them!) so I'll save the surprises until then.

Mum wears Burberry perfume. She can't smell it at all herself, but I think it's lovely and soft, and every time I smell it it reminds me of her.

I'd say go with the one for whichever country she's in.

I went for Lancome Miracle Perfume. They have nice sets in Brown Thomas. The perfume comes with shower gel, body lotion and a make-up bag. Hopefully she'll like it.
