Maximum number of Crossfire Cards on any one PC?

Well I think the title says it all really. I'm hoping someone knows what the maximum number of Crossfire Cards that can be placed on any one PC? (and still be crossifred btw) I'm almost certain that I say a Toms Hardware review that had 4 cards linked but someone said its as many as 8... So just wanted to know

i think when they said 8 they were referring to the new gx2 style cards. which are 2 cards joined together to make 1 card.

i thnk they used 4 of these which really is 8 cards

Bollox, theres no driver for it........its still 2.

There is however, crossfireX which is 2 3850x2's in crossfire, still 2 pcie slots. Drivers aren't relaesed yet, just leaked reviews.

Not crossfire, gpu's work independently & dont split the load. Its for a multi-monitor set-up.

BTW, There was a pic floating round of four Ati pci-e gpu's installed on a board. I've seen it posted on XS forums. This must be the mistake peeps are making, it was never shown running, there is no driver for it.
