Weights for core?

    Hey all, very new to this. I've gotten back into exercising every day after a long enough hiatus. I'm alternating between weights and cardio. It's going quite well so far, but I'm wodnering as to what the best means fo exercsiing the stomach is?

    I'm cutting calories through cycling but in terms of definition, is there any specific exercise to work the abdomen? Or am I better off with sit-ups or some kind of ab-roller machine?

    A decline sit up bench with plates held across the chest hit the abs pretty hard. Keep your abs under tension throughout the set, helps you avoid using momentum to kinda rock yourself up.
    You'll definately feel it in your abs after heavy squatting too.

    Thanks for this. Can I ask what you mean by 'decline' and 'bench'? I understand that the exercise is essentially a sit up.

    That's one hell of a decline Naos! - I think if my head went down to were the '0' is, it might never come back up! :)

    Remember your Cores primary function is to keep your spine in normal extension, not flexion (as in the case of a sit up). Squats, deadlifts, presses - these will all work your core.

    Some one arm dumbell thrusters, bridges and overhead squats are also some basic exercise that will help hit your core muscles as well as what has been suggested
