Hi, I don't think the "thanks" option is activated until you have submitted a fair few posts, in the bottom right of each post there should be a hand icon with a thumb up, if you click on that, that's submitting a thanks, if its not there it means you haven't enough posts yet to activate it.

yes! and as well as that posts to the competitions page don't count. I have around 35 posts but only 9 of those count because they were to other topics.
