Irish Open Feature Table Selection

As there have been a number of comments and considerable debate on the subject of feature table selection we decided it might be a good idea to simply state our intention for 2008 in black and white to add some clarity and hopefully clear up any confusion on the matter.

Table selection for the Irish Open 2008 will be done by entirely random player movements as per tournament directors decision, with whole tables deemed interesting* selected at appropriate breaks.

*Interesting would mean a table with many high chip stacks, well known players or characters.

Your feedback on the subject is appreciated and I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

Will the feature table still be 8 handed as opposed to 10 handed as it was last year on the rest of the tables?

The feature table is still 8 handed so in the event that this table is moved we would remove the player on the next big blind at the break. And move the remainder of the table to the feature table.

ehm... but wasnt the fact that the feature table is 8 handed and not 10 handed like the rest of the tournament considered to be one of the main problems, as it is a very different game?!

That, plus this too is a BIG problem:

after the 8th guy was knocked out there was a few minutes break, when we got back, De Wolfe asked for a chop as his words " theres no poker left in this its just who runs best now" everyone agreed to look at the numbers, we asked for a pen and paper to work the numbers and were refused, told there wasn't time at another stage we asked for the clock to be stopped for a 5 minute toilet break
and were also refused, I complained and received a my second official warning
    nicnicnic wrote: »
I mentioned it before but never made an issue of it I don't really know what the warnings were of I was just told they were official warnings

first one I got annoyed as one of the players were busting for a piss and they wouldn't stop the clock I basically got a bit verbal with the bald TD telling him wtf was he going to do as we all would stop playing, there wasn't much backing from the other players and the guy pulled me aside and said he was giving me an official warning. The first was before the final table from Flood and this is a bit mad he warned me that I wasn't to go allin again without any cards, I thought he was joking at first but he was 100% serious which I found hilarious
    nicnicnic wrote: »
well tbh it didn't effect how I played or anything but looking back it was our money to chop and not being allowed to do so is wrong. Thinking back now I can remember snapping at the bald guy " do you think its fcuken school children your dealing with here". but it was without doubt a direct result of getting the TV show out that night and I can imagine that the people running the thing IE Mr Flood et al were under real pressure

But a step in the right direction is a step in the right direction.

Perfect ...... A feature table with Random players will be great Tv .. Adding one or two onto it after is agreeable as its a huge production and T.V cant always be full of unknowns as then it will get boring

    I say Irish only lol:D

Your not suggesting "famous players" get moved to a table of weak players to make good TV?
Every player that pays €4500 should have the exact same treatment and rights. If you give any one player special treatment your going into a very gray area. "your famous so you get advantages over the common players"
    Very bad idea.

On another note: You have a player on the final table that is very drunk, what do you do? This would not be good for TV?

Just wondering about the following as i know that it has happened - suppose ur playin on any random table - u've got ur headphones in listen to music etc, If your then moved to the featured table - you've got to remove them - is this correct? and if this is the case - surely this is a disadvantage and indeed - one rule for one table and different for another type situation - regardless if this is stated in the rules.

"Interesting would mean a table with many high chip stacks, well known players or characters."

So basically your going to dictate who gets on the feature table and indeed isn't fair to the ordinary joe who pays €4500 entry fee - as already pointed out by THEIRISHMOB. At the end of the day - its a poker tournament - and imo draw for feature table should be the same as draw for table 94.

Now i probably won't play in the IO - but if i was to i would be concerned about those issues.

The reason you can't have anything in your ears at a TV table is to eliminate any accusations of cheating. As your hands can be seen via the live feed to the studio the possibility is raised that someone could in theory be "listening" in, or someone else broadcasting hands to the wearer of earphones.

Same reason why mobiles are banned.

Of course on the outer tables this is not an issue.

Please Someone Clarify What Exactly Is A Final Table Here

Last Year I Heard That Although Each Table Was With 9 Players Or Even 10
The Final Table Was A Tv Table And Classed As 8 Players

So, Imagine You Have A Bet To Make The Final Table, Does This Mean That If You Are Unlucky Enough To Outin 9th Place, That You Lose Your Bet ?

Say some poor sod qualifies for $10.5k would be a lot of money for him.On the bubble he gets dogged and becomes short stacked. Then he is moved to tv table where it is 8 handed. Is this fair?

I think the TV table itself should be like the other tables. I can imagine that it would feel very different moving to the feature table, whereas in the WSOP and EPT etc, the tables are the same as the others. I know it is more awkward in terms of hole cams and camera angles but surely much much more comfortable for the players.
