Holy mother of God, this is good. I was going anyway, looking forward to it with Metallica, RAge and Foo's playing. Add in QOTSA and I am one hell of a dancing happy boy right now. That'll make it seing them for the 6th time, in my 5th country:D. That lineup is class(so far).

At €130 a camping ticket, its a steal. Guess I'll be up early for tickets.

Dear sweet Jesus Zondag looks like it'll be a great day! :P
Me and a few mates were thinking of going to this, looks a cracking line up. Anyone ever been?

Mushy, funny enough i thought of you when i saw the lineup this morning, "QOTSA? that mushy guy will be there then;)"

im still 50/50 on this, its cheap and lovelly bands, but they all end at 23:00, and there doesnt seen to much to do after the bands?

seems like Eindhoven is the best way to get to it, only 1.5hrs on the train from there (or 3 from Brussels/Amsterstam)

would be interested if anyone has ever been to this!

Haha, I was going to it anyway, looking forward to it and all, but now its just insane how much I want this day to arrive(either the day of departure or the Sunday). If there was any doubt in my appearance there, its totally gone now, I'm 100% behind this festival now.

I dont care if I cant get much info on it, tradition must start somewhere, so I'll be a forerunner if needs be. Sunday alone is worth €130, without adding Foos, Metallica etc.

It'll prob be the day before/after(comin home), more than likely to Eindhoven. Festival tickets are so cheap it barely matters that flights could cost around €70:D

Only prob with this fest is the campsite not opening the night before

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,658 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Sure its the same with Werchter. Its no big deal though, just sit outside the campsite overnight, a few (too many) drinks, and you're sorted.

Got 4 tickets for me and some mates no thanks to ticketw*nker.nl - had to call a music shop in Eindhoven, so they've held 4 tickets and sent out a payment invoice - will need to ring my bank though - no automated payment system. Oh well.

It's going to be a damn fine summer folks :D

That was horrible. I went to the German site then and got them. Was so awkward, what with not knowing german. Thankfully its all paid for now, really looking forward to going.

How do you know the tickets are in the post? Which website did you get them from? As I said, I'd to go to the German one, hopefully they sent them out too.

I got them from a music shop in Eindhoven called bullit whom I rang since their number was listed on the pinkpop website. They sent me out a mail containing both confirmation of payment received & the ticket status.

Where else can you get tickets other than that shop?

Porcupine Tree are one to watch. I've seen them live a good few times and I have to say they're one of my favourite bands. Definetly go and check them out, if anyone is going!! ;)

They said it on the PT website. From the sounds of it, its as if they'll finish before Metallica start. Will prob stay for most of PT, then catch most of Metallica too.

Are they sold out anyway? And do you have to buy a weekend ticket or can you go for just one day? Saturday looks savage...

I went to Pinkpop last year, it was brilliant. Marylin Manson, Muse and Smashing Pumpkins were the main acts plus so many more. It's a really weel run festival, the mood around is great, the beer is cheap, There's a dance tent going till 4 or 5 in the morning at 2 of the campsites, really handy if it's raining!! And its not crappy dance techno music playing either, its decent ronk music being belted out. They also put on 2 films at the drive in cinema beside the venue every night if ya wanna relax and catch a movie. I can't praise this festival highly enough to be honest, also with the Dutch all having almost perfect English, there's no language barrier.

I bought my tickets through a bus company that drove us to Landgraaf, I was living in Holland at the time, Once I had my tickets I wasn't bothered finding out if it as sold out or anything, so in short I don't know, sorry

Its gonna be class. Just looking for accommodation in Amsterdam now.

Think the first bands will be on around 3 or 4 on the Friday. Not many bands play over the three stages daily, it finishes relatiely early.

You do realise there are closer cities (by a lonnnngggg country mile) than Amsterdam right? Doing a rough judgement of distance using Google Earth, it'd be like staying in Cork for a gig in Dublin.

The festival is in the very south of the Netherlands

Yes, I know. But myself and my mates wanna have a laugh in Amsterdam on Wednesday night/Thursday beforehand! We actually found a place way outside the city, beyond the airport, more camping style place. Crappy enough reviews(mainly cos its winter), but only a tenner. 6 of us in a cabin in amsterdam...oh the possibilities!

Myself & my mates are planning on flying into Eindhoven on Thursday, staying the night there and generally having a laugh since two of the lads have been there before and said it's a great town. Then we'll hop on the train on friday morning down to Landgraaf. Return trip we'll just stay over the last night of Pinkpop and head home the next day.

I just saw flights for €14 on the Wednesday, so thought why not get an extra day out of it. We're gonna camp outside the place on Thursday night for a laugh, see what does be going on. Yeah, we'll be doing the same for coming home, going to Eindhoven I guess, then fly back here.

From the official websites! They listed on the Pinkpop site, but those sites have no more three day tickets left, from what I could understand.

for those of you who want info on how to get there:

    Transport:

    By Train:
Travel to NS trainstation LANDGRAAF. From here on, shuttle buses will take you to the festivalsite or festivalcampsites. You can also walk to the sites (aprx. 10 minute walk)
See the NS (Dutch Railroad Company) site for more information: www.ns.nl

    By Car:
Drive to Landgraaf ( the south of The Netherlands, near the city of Heerlen) and follow the signs 'Park Gravenrode'. After that, follow the signs which say 'PARKEREN PINKPOP'. From there on, you will be instantly directed to a suitable parking space. Don't leave your vehicle anywhere else; it will be towed away! The address of the festivalsite is: Evenemententerrein MEGALAND, Hofstraat 13-15, 6372 XC Landgraaf.

    By Plane:
The nearest airport is MAASTRICHT AACHEN AIRPORT (website) in Maastricht. From there you can take a taxi to Landgraaf or first travel to the city of Maastricht (Central Station) and take a train to Landgraaf.

    Camping:
There are campsites near the festivalsite. All sites include free toilets, hot showers and running water, supermarkets, an Information desk, a camping store, a First Aid stand, cash registers and several food & drink stands. There is no electricity and campers and mobilehomes are forbidden. The camping sites are accessible from Saturday May 26 noon until Tuesday May 29 noon. The campsites are free with your Weekendticket (3-dayticket). Show your ticket at the entrance to receive a bracelet. Admission to the festival only allowed in combination with the ticket and the bracelet. So don’t lose your ticket! If you are not going to use the festivalcampsites, check the tourist information on www.vvvzuidlimburg.nl
