we already have one. its called Steak and Blowjob Day

    SEE HERE

its up to all of us to get the word out, and make this March 14th the best yet.

ps: i would also accept that International Talk Like A Pirate Day is pretty much a male-oriented holiday, although im sure some ladies get in on the fun

    edit: too slow it seems..

    Paddys day?

    Getting pissed and singing loudly?

    Surely male oriented.

A real man wouldn't want a day. He'd just do what he wants, when he wants, regardless of what day it is.

Why do you think Valentines day is just for women??

Does your other half not do anything for you on Valentines day?

Me and the boyfriend tend to ignore it, it's just another day but if he were to get me something or bring me out somewhere (which never happens) I would do something for him too, why wouldn't I? That'd just be selfish!

We all know Valentines day is very female orientated and men don't get a look in nor would want a look in.Of course she does stuff for me but its all loved up crap that is not much interest to me.

Well then don't be such a wuss! If you think all the girly crap about valentines day is bull**** then don't celebrate it that way. Instead of moaning on the internet, tell your lady that you hate all the girly crap about valentines day and you want to celebrate it another way!

    Miaow.

Valentine's day is a day geared towards women. If you think it's not, well, I guess you're just not doing it right. :-)

We don't get power tools or cool gadgets. It's all about flowers, chocolates and cards. None of which is in my top ten list of things I want to get on any given day.

I would not mind if so much if the day was reciprocated with a day for men.

All these attacks on my manhood today and its not even lunch time.....:D

Okay... you're not listening, rather than separating the days, making valentines for women and something else for men, why not just make Valentines day a bit more how you would like it and less about the flowers and chocolates crap? How would you see this day for men? What would be different?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,762 ✭✭✭✭Princess Consuela Bananahammock

Bull****. Card companies have enough bloody excuses for robbing people blind. Since when were the men of this world insecure? It the ladies that be want to throw strops over men oogling Bridget Fonda, refuse to go out with a bloke under 5'5", that's their insecurities, not ours!

    Rant over, carry on
    Poo out.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

So what do you get on Valentines day? Back when I did bother with Valentines day I always just gave the boyfriend a CD or something I know he'd like, I wouldn't be giving him flowers!! Does your girlfriend really give you flowers??

  • Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 11,183 Mod ✭✭✭✭MarkR

No, and that's the point. Flowers are for girls. We're going out to dinner Friday night as we both feel it's a waste to buy gifts for this particular day. Saying that She'll still get flowers, a card, and some chocolates.

That is the point, you say the day is all about flowers and chocolates which you wouldn't want to recieve on any day, but noone gives you flowers and chocolates so what's to complain about? Why can't you get something else? There's no Valentines code that says "if it's not flowers and chocolates, it's not an acceptable gift!"

St Valentine's Day is for lovers, not just for women. I'll buy flowers, a card and maybe something else for my other half, not because she expects it and it's her day, but because I want to.

No choccies, though, coz she's on a diet, and plenty of exercise later. ;)

tis my first valentines day with the girlfriend.

she not getting flowers, chocolates or any of that crap.

shes bringing me out for dinner on friday night.

my argument is "i treat you like its valentines day all year round, why do i need to go OTT cos society say i should"

If women didn't care about Valentine's day, it wouldn't exist.

You can say all you like that it's "for lovers", but for men it's just another day on top of her birthday, chrimbo and your anniversary that you have to stress about for a week beforehand.

This is a holiday for women to have presents bought for them by men. That's why everything is all red/pink/hearty/flowery/shiny/sparkly. If it was for men it would be monster trucks and bikinis all day. If you don't agree with me, that's fine. Doesn't mean you're right though. Set up a poll, ask any male friends you have. I can guess the outcome. Overwhelming proportion of men will say they do it to please the woman.

To be honest, a lot of you I think need to take a look at what sort of girlfriend you have, if you think its just for women.

I've taken boyfriends out for dinner on Valentine's day, I've spent over 600 quid on stuff for them for it... if they're doing stuff for me, then I get them stuff too. Fair's fair.

Maybe you just all have bad judgement in what to look for in a girlfriend if she expects flowers and cards, but gets you nothing?

I refuse to do anything on valentines day, it's a sham.
However, i am currently single, these two things *may* be related

Bollox to Valentines day. I'm not going to be romantic or buy presents just cos the shops tell me to. I've told the girlfriend this as well. I'll cook something a little special for dinner (I normally cook) and that's about it.

In Japan, valentine's day is all about the men!

(although a month later, the women have 'white day'...)

It's nothing to do with that. I get a card and stuff. But I wouldn't be disappointed if I got nothing. Not even in the slightest.

    That's the difference.

If there was a monster truck day I would be most distressed. A Saturday or Sunday on the August bank holiday weekend should be designate Mans day and require compulsory attendance at a beer garden of your choosing from 2pm until falling down time. Instead it seems those days are taken up for half the people in the contry going to bloody weddings

We've decided to do nothing but use it as a cheap excuse to have a take-away. We can celebrate other days that are far more significant to us than Hallmark's profit margins.

This just about sums it up.

A woman in a relationship who didn't get stuff on Valentines day would be distraught, "omg everyone else got something except me, why didn't you get me something?Do you not love me?" etc etc etc. Whereas a man couldn't care less. It's a day made up to bring profit to companies, and women ensure this happens. If I had it my way, we'd all just ignore it and let them produce their cards/chocolates etc that then go unsold.

It is all about women and there's no denying it, sure some women will focus it on their man but the overwhelming majority will focus it on themselves.

I might playfully suggest that if you're stressed about birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's then you might be with the wrong woman/partner [just so it's not meant personally for Seamus].

My partner treats me the way Silverfish treats hers. I get cards and dinners out, too. (And other less romantic gifts ;))

Nah, it's not the OMG WFT, tearing your hair out kind of stressed. It's the kind of stressed where you spend 10 seconds thinking, "****e, what am I going to get her?" Then you forget about it for another two days.

This goes on until you've about two days left and you realise that it's too late to order anything online, so you'll actually need to go into bricks-and-mortar shops.

You could just as easily argue that he cares more about the person he is buying for because he is stressing out more, that he wants to make every gift special. And cards means SFA to me, does any lads like cards?! I don't know any.

Valentines is definitely for the ladies, and its just a load of balls! Girls say during the summer that they don't care about valentines , but those same girls would be ringing your neck if you didn't make a big deal out of when the day comes!

As for Steak and blowjob day last year... pure shambles....i didn't get steak

When going into bricks-and-mortar shops like Arnotts what I now do is just walk up to the hottest chick behind the counter and say what should I get my other half.I now put next to no taught into it.

No link that I am aware off.If I am going to be doing something I have no interest in I may as well be talking to a hot chick while doing it.
