    I want to know who do you think is the realest rapper right now thats on the scene and but the realest I mean who is speaking the truth and not just another product of the record company like Jim Jones,Dipset,Gunit, 50cent,slim thug, T.I , little mini weezy and jeezy and so fcuking on .....

    I think they trashing all day saying this and that and then goes back to his rented mansion, with one car in the garage which sits 15". If you selling so much dope and living the life of Cosa Nostra and Scarfrace wtf you got into rap game for in the first place?

    My opinion that I gotta give the title to AZ, Jigga, Nas, Eminem (the first lp was all time classic which gave an insight into his world and struggle that a lot of people can relate to), Wu-tang Clan without a doubt and Andre Nickatina.
    Anyway who do you think is the Realest of them all?

    Jeezy is the most gangsta in hip-hop right now. The Game is also gangsta enough but he hasnt done **** in ages! I liked him mainly because he hated 50 Cent (and hes the least "real") and plus anyone who gets respect from Dre are worth listening to. Thats all the hype right now isnt it.? Comercial rap! most of the rappers that are about these days are all ******s, I mean in fareness most of those who talk hard dont have it so bad and are just mouths. The 90's rappers were the real ones. Im talking about Gangstarr, Big L, Rakim, Wu Tang, Ice-T, Mos Def, KRS One etc.. who made it themselves, the rappers these days are usually idiots who cant rhyme that have been pimped out by some producing machine. End of.

    Richard Blackwood.

    Most of those nominated above are the furthest thing from 'real' you would get.

    Try El-P, R.A., NYoil, Little Brother, Panacea etc., etc.

    funny as hell, that dude got bankrupt or something eh? he jus disapeared after that.

    But T.i. got that cool flow wen he's rapping man. He's last album T.i. vs. T.I.P. was tight.

    Ludacris is banging too, his collabs are the best. Comes up wierd unique lyrics, remember "one minute man" wit missy e.

    Ludacris is a genious! I love his style and his work. Especially the humourous stuff. "Act A Fool" is ace and "Blueberry Yum Yum" is up there with my favourite weed-smokin tunes!
    T.I is also a great rapper but as far as realness goes im not too sure. Hes a skinny bastard aswell!

    Ti may be skinny- but he is all muscle.. seen the video where he aint got no shirt on? he is all muscle.. he's just not pumped up on steroids a la 50 pence..:D

    For me, it dont get much realer than DMX.. He can rap about any topic- and he is absolutely passionate about everything he says and hates all them rappers who keep shi*ing on about money & hoez... i like that...:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    Ironic how he features on a Jay-Z song called Money, Cash, Hoes. ;)

    DMX is a bit of a headcase, does he even rap anymore?

    "Love for my dogs" Apparently translates to making them fight horrifically. F*cking idiot. Praying on stage? Why would someone pay to see that?

    DMX possibly was the realest. Now he's a crackhead :o
    Realest as in most "gangsta" its gotta be the Wu. Too many stories/rumours about **** that they did. At least half gotta be true.
    As far as doin what they do in their rhymes then I think it's T.I. Stupid fool is lookin at more time in jail

    Ok, your obviously just like another guy that searched the internet, found the names of the classic dudes, and now think that your a huge rap fan, wrong.

    1) The Game is not a real rapper, you idiot, it's so obvious, look at him like. A quick search on youtube will bring up a video where the Game speaks, and I quote; "50 said I was a stripper, he told everyone I was on Change Of Heart just over a year before The Documentary dropped, and that **** was true, but I'm gangsta, I'm gangsta and gangstas move on."

    2) 50 Cent is a real rapper, just because he is rich and sings on the hooks of his songs, doesn't mean he wasn't a gangsta. Preme, being Kenneth McGriff used Ghetto Qu'ran as an excuse, there is absolutely nothing in the song which can in anyway expose him, it simply describes him as "a businessman" from the Supreme Team, a well known drugs gang in Queens. Don't judge "realness" off which rapper you prefer because it doesn't show knowledge in anyway.

    3) Dr.Dre doesn't disrespect any rapper in public and hasn't done since the death of Eazy E, the only way he came near to doing this was when he threw a little jab at JD on Say What You Say, but that was the end of that, he stopped workin with Snoop and moved on. Dre publicly told of his respect for Fat Joe, and although Fat Joe was one of the biggest gangsters in New York in the late 80's/early 90's, he doesn't have skills as a rapper as you will recognise from his constant recycling of his rhymes.

    4) Look at the dudes you mentioned there, Ice-T, Mos Def, Krs-One, they ain't gangsta, they rappers but definitely not gangsta. Except maybe for Ghostface Killah. I mean Wu Tang created the basis for commercial rap with all their ventures and the Gravel Pit record.

    5) Actual real rappers from the 1990's were Big Punisher, Notorious BIG, Public Enemy, Jadakiss, Big L (of course, but I mean, only one of his records hit the street, one of the best freestylers to ever live), Eric B and Rakim of course too, 40 Cal of Dipset is one of the real rappers still in the street, J-Hood, Uncle Murda...

    6) Some of the better rappers such as Nas and the Game are examples of "fakes". Nas could've stopped the shooting of his brother but put himself first, that ain't real but he thinks he can spit about Hip Hop Is Dead, with people like him makin up this gangsta crap well then it will die. He has a good flow, good rhyme scheme, Ether was a classic as was the Illmatic record but he is exposed I guess.

    yes, tis a little confusing....

    looking at it as an equation we get

    Real=Gangsta

    Krs=Real

    => KRS=Gangsta

    hmmmm, i'm seeing a little problem with this one

    clearly you aren't firmiliar with American churches- they might as well be at a concert! They call the Altar stage, A sermon is called a performance.. and hundreds of thousands have paid to see that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭all the stars

    Once again, i have to say it, Dmx is it for me, the fact that he Featured on someone elses track ages ago about money cash hoez is irrelevant... He is reality.. and what he does off stage - i dont actually care (about that dog fighting comment made earlier by someone) Once he do his thing on stage, and stay releasing excellent tunes - im happy..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

    He is reality..

    Hm, another confusing part for the equation..

    DMX=reality
    KRS=gangsta=real
    DMX=individual unit of reality
    KRS
    Dogfighting=irrelevant to reality even though it remains in it's confines
    Praying=entertainment (only in America though)
    entertainment=reality?

    This is hard :(

    ok... im not trying to put anything into a box... or do equations/ maths... i only care about his music. Not bothered about anything he does in his person life. .i like their music.. dont care if they make animal sacrifices.. not my business..

    Wait, wait, wait.

    Rapper == someone who raps
    BUT Real Rapper == 50 Cent
    Real == Gangsta => Real Rapper == Gangsta Rapper
    So, anyone not Gangsta is not a real rapper.
    KRS == Real but != Gangsta => KRS != real rapper, so KRS == fake rapper like Nas and The Game
    Not Real == Fake, => Everyone != Gangsta == Fake

    So, if you are a rapper but not a gangsta rapper, and at that not a real gangsta rapper you are in fact fake. But being a real gangsta rapper makes you a gangsta gangsta rapper because we already determined Real == Gangsta.

    So, 50 Cent is Real².

    DMX == Real
    But he has variables such as Dogfighting=irrelevant to reality even though it remains in it's confines
    Praying=entertainment (only in America though)

    entertainment != reality because da streetz iz real, aint no playin' fo' sho', it aint no game foo'.
    But DMX's variable are irrelevant to him being Real² so he can pray for entertainment while maintaining his Gangsta.

    all the stars further complicates matters by saying ;
    For me, it dont get much realer than DMX.. He can rap about any topic- and he is absolutely passionate about everything he says

    But follows up saying;
    Not bothered about anything he does in his person life.

    This seems to go against the entire set of rules of Real² layed out in conormurphy's post, because he defines real as being based on your personal life.

    So, either DMX transcends all boundaries, labels and categories to be Real² regardless of all existing parameters defined by conormurphy or Real² != Real² therefore anarchy ensues. Laffy Taffy is considered so Gangsta it's Realⁿ, KRS-One is dismissed as a Sprite rep and DMX is God of Hip-Hop with 50 Cent seated at his right hand and T.I. at his left.

    ok...

    So, :D, guess what i mean to be really clear - leave nothing to guesswork- i dont care what dmx/ whoever does in his personal life in so far as reading about him (a la britney) or watching him being stalked by media (also a la britney)
    I care about his music only.. which yes reflects his personal life - but i only know about his personal life via his music and no other medium! So, - i mean, thats clear yeah? im not into celebrity culture - not that way really... :rolleyes:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

    Yeah we get that. It's just that basically contradicts what this thread is all about (don't worry though, it's an incredibly silly thread). The point the op is trying to make is that those that rap about stuff they do in their life should actually be doing it otherwise they're just posturing and not particularly real. If you base realness purely on the lyrics without knowing anything about what they do (I'm talking gangster rap here) then you can't be sure if what they are rapping about is fantasy/for entertainment purposes or reality for them.

    It's the reason a lot of people dislike mainstream rap music. Too much posturing and talking crap about who they've killed, how much drugs they take/sell and how much money they have. Nobody gives a crap. It's all very stale and unimaginative. That's why this thread is a joke and so few people posting in it are taking it seriously.

    How can you guys forget about Tupac Shakur....it's laughable, that ppl list the real rappers from the 90's and leave him out. He touched the hearts of millions around the World, both black and white. Could that ever be said of rappers like 50 cent?
