Ive recently joined the gym/eat healthier all to help meself lose some excess weight.
The problem is that due to the nature of the work im in,i work 12 hour shifts in I.T,this can be from 8am till 8pm or vice versa.
Thing is ive been up today, since about 10am,.went to the gym for an hour and half.Had a light lunch and dinner. What shud i do about snacking throughout the nite?Any foods ye can recommend?
Should i spread out my calorie intake over the 20ish hours or should i eat slightly more?
Also, would i be better off going to the gym first thing in the morning after finishing the shift at 8am or kip until 3/4 pm and head off then as my intention is to lose weight.I only do work 7 shifts a fortnight so i have a lot of days off to relax/exercise/do whatever the hell i want to!! :D
    Any help would be appreciated.

You'll have to see what works for you. Some people can go to the gym and do a good workout on an empty stomach, other's find they are crap without decent food inside them.

If you only work 7 shifts a fortnight, it might be an idea to hit the gym on non-work days, and really work hard when you are there.

Ideally, aim to have a quality protein, a healthy fat and a green vegetable in all your meals. Try to avoid anything processed, with sugars or processed fats. Nuts like raw almonds make a good snack that you can stick in your pocket. Keep a tub of cottage cheese in the fridge for late night snacks. How about keeping some vegetable soup ready to be heated up?
