Views on stability ball squats

    Hey guys,

Just quick query to see what people's views are on doing squats with a stability ball against the wall?

I did them for the first time this morning (I have an illogical thing against the ball so have never used it before now!, but now that I have used it, I kinda like it!!), and found it good. I could go really deep, with my back perfectly straight and did just two sets of 20, but could feel it working too. Didnt think of it this morn, but could obviously add in weights to it also...

So, good thing? Or, better sticking with normal squat?
I can't seem to keep my back dead straight though at the very end (down part) of a normal (deep) squat, so I found I could go that bit deeper with the medicine ball.

    Thanks very much,

    Simon

Your back shouldn't really be straight at the bottom of the squat, it should be arched. Imagine squatting with your chest puffed out and your arse extended backwards and your back will naturally arch. Someone else might explain it better.

Sticking your head up in the air adds that curve for me.

fitball squats are fine but dont compare the technique with standard squats, it is meant to be different! add weights so you can only do about 10 reps at a push, then its good..
