Recent medical reports in the UK suggest that the significant rise in gout especially in men is due to drinking fizzy drinks, so bear that in mind as you down your 6 pack, enjoy:D

However, There is Gelatin in the Haribo that would lead to the conclusion that its also quite manly.
Gelatin is beneficial to athletes for muscle growth and metabolism, as it contains lysine, which is important for muscle growth and arginine a precursor of creatine, an amino acid important for the energy metabolism of muscle cells.

    So there :p

This bargin is a must have.Ive just loaded up on the Starmix.Great find Op.

There was only one StarMix left in Super Valu, Glanmire, and that was hidden at the back. No Tangfastics either.
Still, 4 bags of Haribo for 3.20. Can't be bad :)

Don't mean to burst your bubble jaytee but they're about the same price in Tesco and Dunnes. They're tiny bags though! :(

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

    Not sure about that Basq.

Last time I was in Tesco regular Haribo like Star Mix had gone up from €1.60 to €2.10
    WTF?!

Plus like I said the ones in Aldi have brand new Haribo that don't exist in other retailers.
And they also contain some packsa of Maimo - a slightly different chew from Hairbo. I don't like buying a full pack of Maimo but they're nice when mixed with other Haribo jellies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Sorry.. you're right. They're actually €4.13 in Tesco.. checked them today! Still not enough in them in my mind for that price.

And yeah, the Haribo have shot up. Made a thread on it here a month or two back: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055235058

PS - Maom Stripes probably are the only things I like more than Haribo. They've a great misprce in my local Tesco right now.. they're priced at €1.07 for a large pack (they should be €2) but I grabbed the last two packs when I was in there a week ago and they've been out of stock since.

I disagree. I spent all last night munching and still have half a bag left.

Plus I have a genuine Gold Bear on my TV set!

The ones in Tesco are different too, mind. They don't contain Maom or the new ones I mentioned above.
They also contain tangfastics which are very hit and miss.

Superquinn are selling magic mix bags for €1

    http://www.mypartyparcel.co.uk/product.asp?pID=976&cID=165
Large pack of Haribo Magic Mix. Perfect to fill up a bowl for your guests to pick up at the end of the party, as they leave the party, or just generaly because although sweets aren't great all the time, parties are a special treat exception!

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Never heard of Haribo Magic Mix.

    No Superquinn in Cork :(

Ate a full pack last night too quickly.. and felt a bit ill this morning! :D

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Saw the 2 for €3 in Tesco but it;s not a good deal at all, considering All Haribo are €1.60 in Super Valu and used be €1.60 in Tesco up to a few weeks ago.

Aldi are doing Haribo Joy Mix(Mostly Maoam) for €2.39.
    Huge bag.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

    Wow.
Found an amazing Star Mix offer in Super Valu. a 600G "Roses" box of Haribo for €2.50.
absolutely quite amazing. This was in the Glanmire branch so not sure about availability throughout the country.

I picked up Haribo, Starmix, Fangtastics(SP?) and Supper Kiddies Mix, 350g bags in Dunnes today for 1.99. I thinks that's pretty good value, they where cheaper than the smaller bags.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

    That's pretty good Neolie.

Tesco Midleton has Haribo 160G bags 5 for 5 euro.
Also, Haribo fantasy mix 97 cent for a single bag.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Was just out in Tesco Mahon Point.
They were doing 2 bags of Haribo for €1.50.

They were the less well known brands, and included Fantasy Mix, Milky Mix, Micro Mix, and Jellie Babies.

I picked up Fantasy Mix and Jellie Babies.
They had absolutely heaps of the things.

Jaytee.. you mean 2 bags for €3? Hence €1.50 each cos that's the promotion I see in my local Tesco.

    No.
2 bags of Micro Mix, Fantasy Mix, Jelly Babies, or Milky Mix for €1.50.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Ahhh.. just got a call from the girlfriend saying my local Tesco (Sligo) are selling them - 5 for €5. Not as good as 75c each but still a decent price.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Milky Mix are like milk teeth. Not bad. Micro Mix are dolly mixture - avoid.
Fantasy Mix are VERY kiddie orientated jellies. And Jellie Babies are well jelly babies.

All in all not bad for 75 cent each but definitely one for the kids - the ones on offer don't have the same adult appeal as Star Mix or Tangfastics.

Ps: Just back from Edinburgh and they have a load of Haribo I've never seen before.
In Tesco you can get little bags of Tangfastics for 9 pence each, very very reasonable.

Ditto in Tesco on Baggott Street, D2.
    Micromix, here I come.......

Ps- Micromix are actually Liquorice, not Dolly mixtures.

I've polished off a bag of Jelly Babies and Fantasy Mix.

Not a patch on the classic Haribo range to be honest.

Thanks to my friend Mad Mags who on a recent trip to Madrid photographed the Haribo shop especially for me.

Super Valu: 33% off StarMix, got the bag for €1.12
In Aldi yesterday, that Joy Mix is excellent value at €2.59!

    m_IMAG0066.jpg

don't worry, Basq, I brush and visit the dentist!

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Didnt' want to create a new thread but just to let you know all Haribo are 2 for €2 in the €2 euro shop on Grand Parade, Cork.
A load to choose from - Starmix, Tangfastics, Fantasy mix, football mix, tropical mix, gold bears, and a few more.

I went for the old reliable pair, starmix and tangfastics.

Did even better yesterday.. my local Centra (Sligo) is selling 2 bags of any Haribo for the price of 1.

They're priced at €1.76 each.. but I got 2 bags of Starmix for €1.66 yesterday. Gonna stop in on my way home for a few more bags methinks.
