I drink a lot of Lucozade & Coke for energy but these are full of sugar and fattening, what would be a good substitute that would still give the energy effects but not be fattening?

Lucozade and Coke are artificial, processed junk, and completely detrimental to the body. All of your energy needs are naturally provided by nutritious, natural wholesome foods (carbs, proteins, fats). Ask yourself why you need these drinks - I'll bet your lacking somewhere. Complex carbs give you a strong, steady release of energy - unlike the drinks you mentioned which give you a sugar hit, followed soon after by a slump as your blood sugar levels dip. They are also great drinks for putting on fat!

Think porridge, bananas, whole grain pasta, rice, etc, and other wholesome food.

what are the regualr posters feelings on powerade, during training or during a particlar long bike ride i usally go for lucozade sport, and one or two bananas, or few fig rolls,

but i do like that sugar hit you get from lucozade original, but kinda gone off it lately after feeling sick after having a bottle after not drinking it for about a week, trying to drink less of it, after being in a habit of drinking a small bottle almost daily,

was looking at powerade as a possible subsitute for when training, along with the bananas, etc, and not for drinking causally

why has nobody mentioned smoothies yet???? I have one or two a day on top of my protein drinks and the odd lucozade sport when im in the gym or working out.stock up on bananas, frozen strawberries and natural yogurt! also bang an egg or two in there for good measure! I've never looked back and now if I find myself drinking a coke, its one or two mouthfuls and no more! Whatever about the fatty aspect, they rot the **** out of your teeth!

    Blender+fresh fruit and yogurt=****ing good drinkin'! :D

Smoothies aren't just for D4 students to have with their paninis ya know! ;)
