Now that O Sullivan is practically out the door, who do you think gets the job?

    Declan Kidney

Id prefer Kidney, but bradley is a pet project of the IRFU so id favor him to win it.

Kidney won't leave Munster, especially for the poison chalice that is the national job.

Bradley lead Connaught to not a whole lot.

My preferred would be Galwey or Wood.

Kidney or Bradley would be more of the same. An international coach I think - get ourselves out of this backward, conservative Irish mentality.

I didn't see EOS winning any RWCs or Grand Slams. I don't mind the spin if there are results ;)

We had Gatland and Ashton and they delivered LESS than EOS so would the IRFU risk it again?

they didn't have the players we have now in fairness.

I'd like to see Conor O'Shea involved in some way ...

But we did not have the players then and as some one had said in a simlier tread do you think Brian o Driscoll would have had a look in now ? Gatland put him in at the deep end in 99 @ 20 yaers of age , and look what he did, i also remember Darcy made his debut in 99 as well under Gatland !

EOS has failed to better the best position Gatland got the team to in the 6 Nations and managed to go all of one game better in one World Cup. Ashton had terrible players to work with (though I don't particularly rate him anyway).

I suppose Jake White is the best option available. Kidney or Bradley would be just as bad as what we have now imo.

Then proceeded to disappear for 4 years. EOS is the one who put him at centre so he deserves a fair bit of credit for that.

Realistically White is out of reach I'd say.

I'd like Gaffney involved. Eddie Jones? The two worked together at Sarries.

What I really want is a coach who'll come with new ideas, who'll try things. If they be relatively unknown so be it. What about the coaches of the SH franchises or provinces? We are stale...

I'm looking at Brian O'Driscoll now and the body language doesn't match the platitudes he's mouthing.

Darcy's lost years ! he wil admit himself he was not not the player he is today! had extra weight and not as fit as he is now!

Jones is just starting at Saracens isn't he? There are very few options out of contract.

I voted for Kidney simply because I see him as a better head coach of the national side than bradley would be but I agree with what somone said in a different thread a few days ago. If it were possible my ideal coaching set up would be Connor O'Shea as head coach with Kidney or Bradley as his assistant and Mick Galway as team manager.

Jake White, with Conor O'Shea as team manager/director of rugby.

Failing that, get Mike Ruddock from Worcester.

very true. why would he move. Gonna wait for a big pay off. and ffs its going to be gaffney. have you not learned anything from the irfu. the most predictable organisation ever.

If it gets bad enough I have no doubt the IRFU will dump him. 3 games at Croker should be more than enough to pay him off. But if he wins against France , he'll get away with it for another year.
Jake White or Eddie Jones for me. Don't think Bradley is there just yet but would add him to the team.

is this poll with regards the head coach or the new manager role recommended?
my prefered option would be Bradley at head coach, Galway in the manager role and Conor O'Shea looking after our youngsters/second string with the idea that he'll be head coach in a few years time. hes a bit young for the full job right now

    stupid post

fire him before the 6 nations are over?

the same posters looking to sack him now would be first to sing his praises if he got the grand slam

    such a fickle nation

mick mccarthy and brian kerr were hounded out of their fai jobs by the angry mob looking for a hanging... they havent been replaced by a better manager since

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

If we won the 6 Nations? You havin aa laugh? Even if we won he should still get the boot as he'll never stray from the same pattern he's on now and while that may be good in the short term (like possibly winning the 6 Nations) it will cripple the development of the national side and lead to another dismal world cup.

Quick question, since we came third in our group do we have to play qualifying matches for the next RWC?

I dont believe i mentioned an opinion on eddie in this thread.

I do however think his time as irish manager is comming to an end.. simply because we are not preforming.

I never said at one point when he would be gone.. almost out the door does not indicate whether its within the next 6 months or not, but it is comming.

    Stupid post? No

agree he probably isnt the best coach in the world but statistically he is the most sucessful Irish one

there is no point replacing him unless you have someone better

it has to be Jake White. There should be no discussion about the next manager,it has to be him but ther IRFU must move fast as the selection for the Lions coach is coming up in a couple of months and White would seem like a great option for the Lions.

Jake White with a team of Gaffney as backs coach, Mike Ford as forwards coach and Mick Galwey for the team manager role that the Genesis report asks for.

Whoever is appointed - I personally think he should be an advocate of flair and 'running' rugby. The 10 man game might squeeze the odd Heiniken cup or local league but when it comes to the 'great' rugby teams, what is memorable is their great running flair and ability to score tries. True you need a good strong pack to win the ball but, allowing for that, the choice should be in favour of fast backrows and 'ball handling' forwards. Ideally forwards who who stay on their feet instead of crashing to ground everytime.

Eddie O Sullivan should be remembered as the man who crushed the spirit out of one of the best running backlines Ireland ever produced. The man who snatch 3 triple crowns from the jaws of 3 championships. The man who has created 'ugly' from beauty.

If you like flair, if you remember the Welsh team of the 70's and the French team of the 80's then our best hope lies with a 'running' coach.

So why not go to the home of 'flair' and pick a French man ?

Send your suggestions to the I.R.F.U.

No Way!!, its bad enough having to see that RFU a** kisser on the tv.

Jake White is the only choice, let him bring Eddie Jones along for company.

EOS has done well but we need fresh impetus, if these performances continue we will be back to the bad old days with the same tired faces playing each game (how can we forget the bradley & bell performances - never again! )

just to remind people, eddie jones will not be joining any irish coaching set up. he is joining saracens. he is not an option.
