Hey lads, I'm after moving to toronto and starting to do some weights to get back into shape. Trying to get my head around changing from kilos to pounds.

So quick question, how heavy is a 7' olympic bar and the shorter 4.5' (I think) bar? I'm not sure what make they are but they're pretty standard, 7 feet long, got the standard end that can spin around and so on.

As far as i know the 7 foot bar is 20kg, might be wrong as my gym dont have 1-

Should be 20Kg or 45lbs for a standard Olympic bar. However, it depends on how high quality it. You can also get Women's bars at 15Kg or 35lbs. I know these conversions don't exactly match up.

Best thing is to step on the scales in the gym, then step on the scales with the bar. When I was in Club Vitae in town I assumed the bar was 20Kg until one day I tested this and it was only 15kg. Well pissed I wasn't doing the work I thought I was.
