    Hi,
    What is the quickest / cheapest way I can get an MRI? did I need to go via GP?

    GP, physio, A&E or private are your options.
    Private pay for it yourself is definitely quickest. There are a few companies providing this service.
    Depending on what you were doing GAA Rugby etc your club might pay for it. Even if you end up paying for it yourself you can claim it back off your tax.

    To get one free you would need a referral from a GP or perhaps even a consultant and may have to wait a while.
    The different health insurers use different companies hospitals so you may want to make sure wherever you go is sanctioned by your insurer if you go that route.

    a GP will only give u a referal letter


    you need to go to the BON SECOURS hospital in glasnevin... cant remember the name of the lad there but hes the main man for knees and stuff and he sort ya with an MRI

    give them a call

    so would i have to get a referral letter from my gp to go to the guy in Bon Secours or could I just ring his office?

    I have an annoying knee problem that I want diagnosed.

    Most Orthapedics will not accept you as a 'walk in' patient - you must have a referral letter from your GP or Physio.

    Then you may be waiting another 2+ weeks for an appointment with a consultant, depending on waiting times. Again depending on waiting times you may be waiting a few days to a few weeks for an appointment for an MRI.

    I think there may be a walk in MRI clinic in Dublin but you need a GP referral. I just need to check out the details and will post back later.

    Just out of interest havre you been seen by your own doctor or physio?
