I dont buy for any man :( ......but i do love La Senza.
I Dont go into Ann Summers coz i always just think its a Poshied up Sex shop. I'm sure im way off there.... i just never really bothered with it.

ya i agree with you niamho. it's a bit ott for me. i do go in the odd time to look but dont' think id ever buy anything in there.

    Hmmm.....I would chose La Senza

I like alot of the stuff in Ann Summers although it is not as easily accessible. I hate the trek into town and much prefer the convenience of driving up to Dundrum to La Senza.

Also I find La Senza marginally cheaper.

La Senza definitely. I think the material used in most of their range is much more for everyday where. Also everything doesn't cost a fortune. In saying that I have ventured into Anne Summers and bought a few things that have impressed himself. :D

I don't like either mainly because they don't go up to my size (32 FF). There is a great shop on Tara street that does really sexy yet not slutty underwear, can't remember what it is called though.

Snap ,32ff its so hard to find , let me know if u remember 'Tara st .'

La Senza everytime...never warmed to Anne Summers. Agent Provocateur if the guy is buying ;)

La senza is better quality than ann summers and better value.

And you cant beat Marks and spencers their bras are fantastic and they do some nice stuff as well....

It depends what you want. If I want nice undies, La Senza or wherever. Not usually Ann Summers. But for other playthings AS is good, the staff are well trained. Sex shops can seem very grubby.

went in there once for my ex.
was treated like a pervert by the lady there - needlesstosay the catelogue she promised to send out never arrived which led my ex to think i didn't bother going in there in the 1 place.
    BOO HISS

either - once i get some I generally don't complain.

I think I'd be leaning more towards La Senza for myself but if I was buying for him then I'd go to ann summers

(Worked in Anns for a day - hanging knickers for 8 hours wasn't my cup of tea - my poor fingers were in bits!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,630 ✭✭✭The Recliner

An ex of mine used to work in Ann Summers

Their stuff is over priced and of crappy quaility according to her

From a male perspective, if a girl is willing to make an effort I am not going to complain where it was bought

La Senza ftw. Ann Summers seems cheap and nasty to me.

Yeah dont stand too close to a naked flame in Ann Summers undies unless you want to raise the temperature in a third degree burns kind of way.

I like the look of la senza stuff, havent bought much there yet though

Id Agree with Quailty if there was a 3rd Option of M & S i'd go for them, some really nice stuff and what ive noticed is they give really good "support" :) otherwise Le Senza.

Totally agree, the stuff in Ann Summers looks like it would give you a rash:eek:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

I think both are fairly tacky really. I adore Agent Provocateur but obviously the price and all that. I think M&S does beautiful stuff. Ann Summers stuff is only for before sex, it's not "proper" lingerie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,234 ✭✭✭Malteaser!

I'd pick La Senza over Ann Summers but it's still not my first choice. I find their bras to be kinda uncomfortable. I usually get underwear from Arnotts or somewhere like that!!

Ann Summers or La Senza? Neither.

La Perla. I'm a man so what do i know anyway...

Forget the pretenders, the Crown Princess of lingerie is Aubade.

While we're on the subject, here's a picture of me wearing my favourite little number pour L'Homme :)

Why did you correct it? I buy underwear for myself AND i do buy underwear for my bf (not for him to wear :P). Theres certain things id buy for both, cause sometimes its nice knowing you have pretty underwear on, but theres somethings that are definitely bought "for my man". believe me i dont buy skimpy nightdresses to slob around the house in, give me my comfy pjs anyday! but he likes them, so i bought 1 for him. oh & it was in la senza. never even gone into ann summers, it scares me for some reason. seems overpriced anyway from what ive seen online.

just reminded me i have a la senza voucher :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Well ok, it's nice to feel sexy in hot lingerie and it's a major ego boost when he's turned on by it, but I still wouldn't consider myself to be buying it for him as opposed to for myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,503 ✭✭✭✭jellie

hmm maybe its just me.. like most of my underwear is for me, im the 1 that wears it :p but there are things i would buy specifically for him, like the nightdress thing mentioned above. i bought it cause i knew he wanted me to get 1. so i guess i was buying it for him. like i wouldnt have bought it otherwise..

edit: going back on topic, id looked loads of places for the type of thing he wanted, & found a gorgeous 1 in la senza in the end :)

I don't like either. Ann Summers looks cheap and La Senza feels cheap.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,551 ✭✭✭panda100

    Marks and Sparks underwear FTW!!
Knickerbox in Ann Summers is quite nice though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭ztoical

couldn't be bothered with Ann Summers - their clothes look cheap and when vibrator shopping I'd go to a proper sex shop not a wannabe.

I normally stock up with bras and knickers states side - much better range at a much better price. Sadly non of my fav stores will ship international, o well its an excuse to go over at least twice a year if not more :D

In fairness, La Senza and Ann Summers are really just the high street version of Agent Provocateur, La Perla, Victoria Secret. In the same way that shops like Penneys, Next & TopShop et al bring the catwalk to the masses, La Senza do the same for top class lingerie. Of course their quality isn't anything up to the standard but if you're looking for something as disposable as a 'going out top' you'd buy on the highstreet, you can't really go wrong. Most lingerie doesn't tend to stay on too long anyway!

While in an ideal world all you wimmins would have wardrobes full of VS, Pussy Glamore etc, I think us blokes are usually so happy to be getting some we don't notice the wrapping paper so much! It is nice to be dressed up for occasionally though :)

If Ann Summers are so crap then WHY are they still going strong more than 25 years after they first started, they have shops and reps all over the UK and Ireland and the reps are always very busy,I know the rep I buy all my lingerie & vibrators from is very very busy, she has parties booked up til July at least already and she was telling me she makes fantastic money every week,so if Ann Summers is as bad as some of you are saying HOW are they so busy!!!!

cus everyone knows the stuff they stock is crap. I'm not saying people shouldn't buy it but I think anyone buying bras there doesn't expect them to last very long. The sex toys they sell are harmless, tame, cheap, novelties aimed at parties, 21st, hen nights etc. sex toy lite - its a sex shop that is geared towards people who would die before going into a real sex shop [flash back to the london fetish show a couple of years back and a rather graphic demo from a sales man on how to use the vibrator my friend and I were looking at and then been given loads of free batteries cus we looked like "healthy girls"] Places like Dunnes and Pennys are still going strong and the clothes they sell are rubbish but they are cheap and work for what you want them for.

I've been to an ann summers party and it was a great laugh. Its a good night out [or should that be in, I'm not sure] but I'm not going to say their stuff is good quality when its not - at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Ann Summers cater for sizes 8-28 and they also do bra sizes up to 42G cup, they are also very accessible through the web, I buy alot of my underwear from a website I came across while trying to buy big sized lingerie,it is very discreet and a fast delivery service.I have never had any problems with Ann Summers underwear,I have items for years that I chuck in the washing machine and they are still perfect and the whites have never lost their whiteness either.

Do you sell ann summers gear?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

    Lol

Ann Summers underwear is tacky as hell. We're talking about the lingerie by the way, not the sex toys - which... do the job :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 277 ✭✭DubLegs

Don't like Anne Summers - find their sizing way too small. I'd prefer La Senza of the two! Marks & Spencer would be my first option for underwear though - sexy stuff and good quailty.

Its been a while, but I would have thought that Dunnes clothes were decent, on the whole.

I buy American underwear online, or i go for playtex.

The quality of Ann Summers underwear is definately not great. Anything I bought there broke practically the first time I wore it. Plus there stuff is cheap and tacky looking on the whole.

I find La Senza great. Quality varies but if you are smart you will be able to get good quality at a great price.

La Senza, they do some nice stuff. I wish more of their bras didn't have those lumpy padded bits to 'push up' at the bottom of the cup. Bought a good few bits in there.
Been in Ann Summers once, wasn't overly impressed tbh.

side note - yes M&S are good for bras!

The name of the shop on Tara Street is Intimate Lingerie. Don't be put off by the name! It is an excellent shop but you can't just walk in - you have to make an appointment. The owner is a woman called Pauline. She made my corset for my wedding dress and while I was getting fitted, I bought a number of other bits and pieces. I highly recommend the place and your consult is totally private and discrete one-to-one. An excellent place for getting accurately measured. Rawk.

La Senza fan as anne summers does not cater for the bustier lady.

    Does La Senza?

I've never bought anything in either. Same problems with bustiness and I'm instantly turned off when I walk into either shop.

Either M&S or the Fantasie/Charnot/Freda/Triumph stuff from department stores for me.

One of the things about La Senza is these type babydolls come in like size 8 / 10 etc, but they have cups on them. And I remember trying one on before (I'd be a size 8) but good luck to my boobs fitting in lol!! no hope. And I'm only a 32 C - but wasn't happening. They seem to assume if you're size 8 that you have no boobs! (the ones that don't have cups are better fitting)
