Losing weight just by Treadmill

I got a month's visitor's pass to Jackie Skellies, so I can only use the facilities, not personal trainers. I'm looking to drop about 20lbs, is it possible to loose it jusy by improving diet & running every day? Is it realistic to think I can do this in 6 weeks? Since I can't use a Personal Trainer does anyone have any advice about how much I should run each day? What speed & for how long?
    Thank You

Is there any reason you just wanna use the threadmill other than not really knowing what else to do??

Tbh, if I was getting a months free pass to a gym I'd be using as much of their equipment as possible!!

No, I don't know what else to do. Would treadmill not be enough?
Does anyone know the teadmills the have in Jackie Skellies in town? Is 30mins around speed 10-11 good? How much should I be doing?

From the little I know of it:

    - the treadmill would be a good way of losing weight, but you should try HIIT. Google HIIT, but basically it's all about sprinting and trying to really push yourself. This will metabolise fat a lot faster. I'm probably going to be contradicted on this!

    - diet. Cut out all the crap, and try to eat 5-6 small meals a day. Handful of nuts or pieces of fruit, that kind of thing. Cut out white bread (go brown instead), white rice (ditto), white pasta (ditto). I switched from spuds to sweet potatoes, they're mighty. Go easy on the beer too.

    - weights. While treadmill/jogging will definitely help lose weight, it's good to have some muscle. Muscle is more efficient at burning calories, so a muscle-y person sitting around doing nothing will always burn more calories than a non muscle-y person.

That's the general gist of it, in the simplest terms possible.

Em yeah it'll help but there's a lot of other things you could do as well to help the whole process along.

Free weights would be the best really if you'd be up for it...

Any advice about that? Is Pinnacle actually a good cheaper place, you can get more attention, able to use a trainer? How much can you really change yourself in a month?

With the weights the biggest obstacle you'll face as a beginner is learning how to perform the big lifts (squat, bench and deadlift) properly. And it's gonna be the most time consuming part too unfortunately and it could take 4-8 weeks (although you never really stop learning how to get better at them, 4-8 weeks should be enough to become at least proficient).

Keeping it simple really is the way forward on them, every body wants to use the fluffy beach muscle movements (curls and benches) but if you're really looking to get the most bang for your buck and make the biggest gains in the shortest period you need to be squatting and deadlifting hard too. This is a really simple but also very effective program http://startingstrength.net/workouts

I dunno anything about Pinnicle, loads of people here are members and love it though I've spoken to others who found it quite cramped. Not that it's always busy just that it's small.

It's hard to say how much you can change in one month, it all depends on the amount of effort you're willing to put in. It's definately possible to make a big difference but you really do have to be up for putting in the work.
