Home Based Work

I've been scouring the web for ages looking for home based workingopportunities ( i don't have teh brains to come up with any new or innovative business ideas)
Well, it's like hell on earth dredging through the scams...

to cut a long story short I've managed to compile a list of Businesses covering a variety of area's (Illustration, writing, data entry, transcription, proofreading) that hire people to work from home.

And I'm willing to spread the love :)

If anyone is interested PM me please.

Ok, I've had a fair few PM's from cynics...to answer one in particular...no there's no such thing as a free lunch...
If you want an online job you have to work at it...same as any job...
I firmly believe there's no such thing as get rich quick schemes....

Don't PM me if you're not hard working or are very cynical :)

    what sort of work surveys?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

You can make quite good money as an audio-typist working from home. There are plenty of short typing courses on offer if you don't already have it. I did a typing course that was only 20 hours, but with practice my speed is up to 80 words per minute now.

Nope, anyone who thinks they can earn money from survey's in Ireland is deluded, and it's not pay per click or some such nonsense. And you don't have to pay to apply for any of the jobs, though some ask you to complete a competency course as part of your application. After that it's like applying for any job, if they like you and what you have to offer you get it. I've been going to each company website verifying that they hire worldwide...slow process... I also have more companies to add so the list is getting bigger.

One thing I'd advise anyone here, if you have to pay to begin working for soneone 10/1 it's scam. Even if it's for "training materials".
If you went working for a bricks and mortar office you wouldn't have to pay to start the job

(you'd be amazed how many people just pay out to the first website promising to make them an overnight millionaire)

Also nothing on this list promises to make you an immediate fortune. Do the work and you get paid for it...that's all...work hard you get paid more. Build experience and you'll be snapped up by better companies. There are some companies based in the UK, i'd say it'll start taking off in 2008 as it's less costly for companies to hire home workers.

Dudess there are some audio-typing companies that hire people with no experience, you start at ground level but can build a good portfolio of work and move onto better companies

Im sceptical about the very nature of this post. If you have info to share then share it. Stop asking people to PM you as if its some secret that you will only share with a few.

Just post up the info and let people decide for themselves.

Are you charging for this list by any chance?
Is there an "investment fee" or something that someone needs to pay before they can get a job?

I Am Sharing It....I'm also getting tired of the skeptics PMing me, if you don't want the list then don't waste my time.

The list is pages long, and growing, I couldn't possibly post it. At least as a word doc it's easier to search through.

No-one's asking anyone to pay anything for anything here (see my last post)
I've given it to a few people FOC and asked them to post their opinion about it... when they have one of course...

Im sorry Jenny, its just you have two things working against you.
You are a new user with 7 posts. People are always suspicious when newbies are asking for people to PM for something.
And the fact you are simply not posting the info. There is no reason you can not post it on boards, Did you know you can even upload the word document into your post? Just click Go advanced and upload it from the manage attachments section.

Perhaps you can send the list to a mod, who can then sticky it so everyone can see it.

I do not mean to insult but surely it would be better for it to be stickied rather than you have to ask people to PM you every few days for the info. this thread will disappear from the front page.. so a sticky is best.

Jenny are some of these work from home ideas multi-level marketing where they will be working under you? I am also suspicious of your secrecy...

I would agree with you on the "if you have to pay to start it's a scam". I looked into Excel, that home telephone MLM system. Basically it seems they make all their money from the joining up fees. They don't care if you sell on their phone service or not...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭jenny-walsh

Saruman, I'm not actually that new, i've been hanging around the boards for a couple of years :) moved to mayo spent a year with no web access and couldn't quite remember any of my passwords or anything, I've been searching for my old posts, i'll put up my old username when I find it.

Also, I didn't know I could upload the list, I may have been hanging around a while but I never had to do anything like this before... and i'm not the cleverest with computers...There's no secrecy involved, anyone who asks for the information get's it almost immediately...or whenever I read their post.

I'll upload it no problem, I have more info to add to the list that I want to verify before I include it...I also want to get some feedback from the people who've recieved the list, if they feel it's crap there's no point posting it is there?

No-one bother PM'ing me if their suspicious so, once I get feedback i'll either quit offering this list or upload it.

dublindude There's no scamming here, I'm not being secretive about it, I'm hadning out the list. Also there's no MLM's in this. It's for some of the work you don't have to ever talk to anybody, don't have to advertise don't have to do anything of the like unless it's in the spec of the job you apply for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

OK then Jenny, thats fine. how about you send me that list. I will let my wife take a look and see if anything interests he. I know she would rather work from home than have to come in to Dublin with me every day :D

I have just taken a quick look at the document. I had assumed it was just a bunch of links etc but its actually pretty thorough and is on the way to being an E-book if not a paper publication. So any criticism i had of Jenny's methods are taken back. I can understand why she did not want to just post it up on boards.

good luck to her if she decides to do something more with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭jenny-walsh

    Thank you Saruman! Much appreciated.

I'm not making money off this list in any way, not through affiliate nonsense.
However I would like to say alot of legwork and research has gone into it so if anyone likes what they get a donation to my paypal account via the email address I send from would be appreciated.

NB: I'm giving this Information Free Of Charge.

I'm only asking for a donation if anyone thinks the time I spent gathering this info is worth a small reimbursement.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,382 ✭✭✭✭AARRRGH

Sounds good so! I take back my statements also.

Jenny could you send on the list to me too?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭jenny-walsh

No problem, anyone who want's the lcurrent information can you PM me your email address please.

I'll post a dowload link to it soon but I have more companies to add to it so will wait til it's as complete as possible.

I'm verifying all the companies, making sure they DON'T charge you to sign up/ apply for jobs and that they DO hire worldwide... or in Eire at least.

Then keep an eye on this Thread so you can download the updates

I won't hold it against ya, anyone else looking for the list, PM me

I've had a bit of feedback that the links don't work too well in pdf, so i'll be re-editing that.

In the final version there will be a larger list of companies (hopefully much larger) and proper links...
bear with me, it's a bit of a learning curve.

I'm spending today working on the final list, I literally have hundreds of companies to verify so anyone who has PM'd me hang on, you will get the info. I'll post a download link as soon as it's done

    Thanks for the info Jenny.

So has anyone actually done the work (data entry for example) and been paid?

Do you bill them or what? I would be afraid of billing for too many hours or not actually being paid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭jenny-walsh

Elessar I checked these sites backwards and forwards looking for bad reports but nothing raised a red flag (now I had alot to go through and did it by myself so I hope ye'll be forgiving of human error)

The ususal set up is that you invoice them after you've done a certain amount of work and they pay you. This will vary from site to site, you could be given a job at a set wage and it's up to you to make it worth your while.

Don't over invoice your hours, they have an idea of how long a job will take on average and will expect you to be within reasonable limits, a few of the sites will tell you how long a job should take you.

I've had an email back about someone getting paid for a job already, a small amount but it's still a start. I've asked them to post about it, it's up to them though.

Are you people for real? Seriously? Would you like somebody to apply for the job for you, do the job for you and hand you over the money?

    Reality check time, methinks.
