Boards self help cash game

Is anyone interested in playing a cash game session with fellow boardsies where we would take note of what we think of each others play and offer advise, as suggested here.

I suggest iPoker 50NL as its a bit below my comfort level but if anyone wants to play at a different level just say. I think it may be hard to play 'properly' if the stakes are too much less than your normal level.

When's good for people? How about this Sunday 6pm? Or later on if thats to soon...

This sounds good... I would be up for it but wouldnt a live game be better for discussion and for showing cards?

Well yes, it would be better for that but, for good or for bad, I and probably others play a little different online than live. And we'd be losing PT which is a big part of online poker for some. 95% of poker I play is online so thats what I want to improve most. Accessibility might be a problem for some too. But sure, I'd play another boards game even if I do have to show my cards each hand:)

Not trying to be negative so just puting the tought out there, if the purpose is to learn then a table full of boards TAG's will go something like fold, fold, raise, 3bet, fold, 4bet Squeez and will just turn into a 3/4 betting battles because everyone knows he knows sort of thing not to mention the blind battles. If your doing it just for a bit of fun its fine (i havent read the other link so maybe it is just for fun)

Also as a learning process nobody in this day and age has to sit at a table of TAGs with so many table selection tools and fish so any of the situations wont really be relevant to the real world tables where theres 1-2 fish on the table. Having maybe 2 boardsies at a table with some fish though could be interesting if your making a video.

I agree and disagree. We may all be decent players but we (I at least) aren't great players. If a 10/20 reg sat down with us he may view us as somewhat fishy players. Although the game mightn't run like your normal game, we would learn something about dealing with semi decent players which would be a useful skill to have.

I think playing any game where you comment and see the opponents cards will help to an extent.

I was thinking similarly, tbh most of us that play at the same stakes swap SN's etc and generally know a bit of each others games.

Live or online I feel it may turn into a machismo show of bravado, trying to outgun each other and not playing to our "typical" game, now I know on any given day based on the given dynamics we veer from our "typical" lines/performance but in this case very far removed. Maybe I'm just very cynical but I agree with DVD's idea of having a couple of boardies on the same table review their common session as it might prove more beneficial.

Plus think how long it would take to actually get a definite table as a fish or 2 is guaranteed to sit unless you get a private table?

Just thinking out loud, don't get me wrong I'd definitely like to have my peers disect my play in as much more detail but I'm not in the game at the mo.

Nice idea, but I think for the reasons listed here video reviews would be more benificial to people looking for help.

I'd donate at 50nl on ipoker. Sounds like fun. Even if DVD makes some good points (as usual).

This is exactly what the problem would be with something like this.
I personally could do with some help with online cash play, but i don't really see this working out.
I mean someone with a bankroll for 5/10 would hardly take this seriously enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,835 ✭✭✭coillcam

So who is around for this at 6?
Shortstack says he can make a password protected table for us but not till tomorrow. We can just go ahead and be hostile in the chat to non boardsies:)

I didn't manage to put cash into an old account so here's my current screen name; badev.

If anyone wants to record this you can use Camtasia studio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,275 ✭✭✭digiman

lol Pok3rplaya showing the sick bluffs and raising Lloyd 10.5BB blind on blind...very realistic simulation of real life

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,187 ✭✭✭Flushdraw

Yeah an interesting game to watch. Tons of 4betting incl a 72o 4bet by Digiman. Also Lloyd's AA getting pwned by MrPlough's J9. Defo not your average 50NL game
