Recently moved to City West area.
Thinking of joining the gym in the City West hotel.
I won't be an expert on gyms but has anyone got any advice as to whether its worth joining or comments regarding the City West Gym.
    Cheers

I'm a member there, along with one or two others who occasionally view this boards I think...

Gym is fine. A good time to be joining I would suggest, as the whole place has just been done up with all new equipment etc so it's all pretty brand spanking.

If cardio is your thing then you're in luck - treadmills as far as the eye can see!

Plenty of weights too, although considering they'd plenty of room to work with they could have given the freeweights area alot more room and comfort... but, everything you need is there so can't complain.

I don't know how it compares pricewise to anywhere else but I would guess it's pretty much the industry average.

    Hope that helps...

No complaints here either... LOADS of new equipment, but as Whip it said - the free weights are kinda squashed in. But there are loads of them, so you can't really complain.

Changing rooms are nice and clean too - I don't use the jacuzzi or pool area, so cannot comment.

There's also enough oddballs around to keep you amused if you're a bit bored - ye know who I mean; grunters, shadow-boxers, 'getting a good burn' merchants, 'woah, look at that bicep' merchants. women in make-up, fellas who pose in the mirror with their Bruce Willis face on and massive Eastern-European lads who outlift you 2:1 without breaking sweat... ye know, the usual!

FAO the OP - I got some sort of flyer through the door from Citywest yday (you prob got one too) which says they're having some kinda Open Weekend this weekend and anyone who comes and joins can waive the joining fee - which I think is a coupla hundred quid... Just letting you know.
