  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,358 ✭✭✭seraphimvc

You can download it, but unless you're running windows 2k or 98, it'll be a bit of a nightmare.

Be warned that the PC port isn't the best and all the game sounds are dreadful.

    Excuse my ignorance:o

I ran it fine on xp, don't know about vista. Try running it under compatibility mode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,651 ✭✭✭Captain Slow IRL

Right click the exe to play the game and click properties. Then click the compatibility tab. Tick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select windows xp from the dropdown list.

Friend gave me the PC port of it a while back.. i must install it sometime :)

vista runs the majority of stuff fine. if you experience trouble do as above.

Fav FF game by far. completed it at least 6 times by now on the playstation. A few years ago I downloaded 3 disc images (ISOs) of the PS1 version from Limewire but i havent got them anymore. It was a lot of hasstle actually, i had to mount them using daemon tools and play it using a ps1 emultor. It'd be easier just buying the game off eBay or Amazon like they said.

i got the ultima edition... crashed on my pc everytime as soon as i got the highwind thingy with cid...bent, might get that ps1 copy, didnt think new copies were still on sale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 82 ✭✭davidtobin100

Apparently they haven't pressed any new copies in five years. That said there were so many made you shouldn't have to pay over 20 euro for a new copy through ebay.ie.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 108 ✭✭N1njapirate

    buy it =)

I used to have it on the ps but for a replay the pc version is great, it's all ran smoothly for me, and I've got to the equiv of the 3rd disc, my gold chocobo and all the sidegames done. Just Diamond left and then to finish it off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,485 ✭✭✭Mr. K

Diamond? Do you mean Ruby or Emerald? Not nitpicking, I thought you fought Diamond on Disc 2, but my memory could be off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,936 ✭✭✭nix

Yes Diamond attacks midgar, emerald is in the water, and ruby in the desert and ultimate flying.

And Sapphire is rumored to be the one that gets BOOM!! headshotted at junon, but thats never confirmed in game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,751 ✭✭✭ec18

For years I htought that emerald was teh same one that gets its head blown off at junon

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 162 ✭✭solace

Yeah, 'Sapphire' was never officially named.

Man, I remember the first time I tried to play through FFVII. I got to the stage where you meet the Weapons for the first time (stunning cut scene for it's time) and I repeatedly got the "illegal operation" error. After hours of frustration and irritating phone calls to Eidos, I got a floppy disk sent to me with a save file. Didn't have a clue how to use it. Gave up, reluctantly. Re-installed it a year later and it worked fine. What a game. Nothing's come close; don't know if it was because of my age at the time but no game's ever had such an impact...

I never got anywhere near as far nto this game as I should have or wanted to.

Seeing as they are reworking and rereleasing the original gamesin the series for Nintendo DS does anybody know of any reason why they might not do the same for FFVII? I'm thinking licences and other such legal issues.

This game would have to be my favorite game of all time. Even with the GTA's ofthis day and the amount I play CSS. This game's story was just unreal and great to play as a kid. I still have the discs at home!

    1) the size of the game couldn't possibly fit on a cartridge.
    2) as far as square enix are concerned, FFVII is their baby, something they can always fall back on. not to be a wasted opportunity
    3) the complilation of FFVII recently is the only work they plan for it for the foreseeable future....albeit that damn PS3 rumour

I hadn't thought of that, you're entirely right.

FFIII has just been released for DS and has been given a similar style to FFVII, anyone know if its worthwhile?

It's not a bad game, but it's nowhere near 7 - there's an irish reference in it; some of the enemies which look an awful lot like leprechaun's are called "Far Jarrig" (fear dearg!)

The only fault I could find with it is the screen size!

Any chance of a ff7 or any final fantasy game coming out on the wii?

I think this is far from the truth. The N64 version of Resi 2 fit all 2 CDs of the games on to a 64mbit cartridge with all the FMV in reduced quality. The biggest DS cartridge available is 4 times that size. You also have to remember that the entire FFVII game is present on each CD only the FMVs are different. So with todays compression and the small screen resolution of the DS the game could quite easily fit on a 256 or 512 MB cartridge.

I have a copy of FFVII on the PSone. Love going back to play it. I hope they do a remake and release it on the 360.

I will personally kill all members of the sqaure enix teasm if they were ever to do somethingas horrible as release FFVII of all games onto the 360

    ps3 ftw

bought the xbox360 a couple of weeks ago so i could get gta and all the other new games out at the minute, but i reckon i'd easily go back and play FF7 anytime, thanks for the reminder must dust the game off. i've the platinum edition, shame i don't have one of the originals.

I'd love a re-release of the game with the SAME story with better graphics etc for a newer console. Would be class.

I woulnd't even piss on a PS3. Sony are useless. The only good thing they have ever done is the PSone.

Hey, I loved the PS2 (or rather, the games that were released for it). Anyway, I'd like a remake for the PS3. Graphics only. Nothing else.

    Haha.
    Own you all.
Got me a copy for 4 euro in st vincent de pauls in bray.
    Owned.

    Hell yeah.
It had all 3 discs of VII and (!) a demo of VIII. How cool is that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 85 ✭✭matthew26

Very. I might get another copy since Disc 3 already has a lot of scratches.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭andgoodbye

I don't know how, but I mangaed to somehow blunder my way through all of disc two (on my original copy), even though disc two had, quite literally, a bite out of it. I had to save every ten seconds and hope to **** an FMV didn't come up. If it did, I had to switch out the discs.
That reminds me, anyone else know the unlimitied time/regen cheat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Lee Snowflake

To do the regenerate cheat: get in a fight, kill all the enemies except 1, cast regenerate on whatever characters and defeat the last enemy. As the victory music is playing open the disc cover. The game can't load the next screen so the characters will keep regenerating until either their health is full or the disc cover is closed.
Is this the cheat you are talking about?

Make sure the one you get is sealed if you buy on ebay. Possible to get this game onto the psp.
