Monthly fees: do other gyms do this too?

    Hi all,

At the time I joined my gym the monthly fee was 63eur (year 2006).
Last year it went up by 1eur to 64eur. This year they're charging 65eur (just saw it on my bank statement).
There was no notice given or anything, fees just went up. Ok, it's only 1euro you say, but still I find it annoying. Next year they might quietly put it up to 70eur, like nobody would notice a fiver plus or minus

Do other gyms do this as well?

it is probably in your contract that they have the right to increase your membership fee without warning, so I would expect that most gym's do it that way.

truthfully it is only around a 1.5% increase which is below standard inflation rates so truthfully you are actually doing well out of it

down here in the bogland (Limerick :) ) I'm paying €39 a month with JJB.
And no increases during the year. On my 2nd year with them and still paying the same price I started off on.
If you're in dublin shop around..a lot of gyms charge an arm and a leg and are no better than the one next to it.
