Fitz mentioned in my other post that she loves seeing photos, i know i do too so i said i would post these few that i took of Mandi at a training show in castlebar from last sunday, her first show of this year. She went clear in the 80cm and had one down in the 90cm. Hopefully this is going to be a great year for her!

a few of the guys over in the photography forum recently took some picks of horses.maybe ye want to post a thread there and ask them for a few photos.

Hey guys, newbie to the equestrian forum but have been riding a while, spotted this thread and had a few additions if ye don't mind :D

Photos are from my time in a finca ("ranch") in Spain, Los Cerrillares. They have some better ones on their website, but thought I'd better not take credit for their photos!

Thanks Wombles, my own horse in on the cover of Irelands Equestrian this month so the fame has gone to his head and now he really does think he is a stallion :) Welcome to the forum Wombles :)

Have you been doing equestrian photography long?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

About 1 and a half years now, full time pro since September. Thanks zaraba. Some of my credit goes to Spirit as he was my inspiration to start taking pictures and full of character.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭wombles

I am always trying to get good shots of horses but they are never like yours! Is that Spirit as the front page star?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

Yeah thats him, I took that before a small show. He was all groomed and looking pretty :)

Oh he is lovely! What height is he, and what do you mainly do with him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

He is 15'2 hands high and half Connemara, just mainly leisure riding with some jumping. What about your horse Wombles?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭wombles

I have a 15.1 bay gelding. He is a French bred of unknown parentage! A friend bought him in France and when he came back I fell in love with him. He is only 5 and hasn't done much yet. I would say his is a pony cross as he has a real pony head.

Aw!! Bummer!! I can't view your RDS side-saddle pics for some reason Borderfox. Oh actually, they're working now!
That was the class before mine - the Middleweights. Don't suppose you got the Lightweights or the championship by any chance??? A big chestnut mare with a white blaze. Sorry, I am a pain!

Thanks!! She's half mad though and slightly demented this week after hunter trials at the weekend!! She's by Paris Lights ex Glantine Lady.

Ha my sister loves that photo. What not to do when jumping out of water!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 149 ✭✭napoles

Yay another by a Selle Francais! I've had a few Quiletto's and I love them!
I love the show-jumping pic of her - talk about picking up!
What's her show name - or is that too nosy a question? Just ignore me if so! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭xxkarenxx

Ha Ha thats ok!! She does pick up but sometimes gets her into trouble-she seems to have taken the flamboyant approach to life!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 149 ✭✭napoles

    :D
Better than a half hearted approach!! She's really lovely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭xxkarenxx

Yeah I suppose it is! Big turn around for her cos when she started out she was not impressed with x country at all. Went schooling and took 20 mins to get her on a bank and then another 40 to get her off it!! And as for water.........

Wow, you must have really won your girl over!!!
I think you get that cautiousness with mares though. Geldings generally seem that bit more cocky. Mind you, when a mare trusts you, I think they'll try their heart out for you!

Well it's certainly true for this mare she had a big turn around she's unstoppable cross country-now its her dressage thats the problem!!!
