Crazy bia***

On my way back home tonight and a crazy bia*** with a Micra or something just burn the "give way" on my left to end up 1m in front of me, just had time to break...

50m later red light comes up. I get out of my car, wanna talk to the lady, she watches me with her finger on the mouth "shhh".
I tell her, "you were about to kill me!", same thing, "shhh" with her finger on her mouth. I ask her to open the window then she takes off.

What kind of fun*** crazy behavior is that?

I was pissed, not the first time people are burning "give way" in front of me.

I think he said he got burnt and was told to be quiet about it.

The "give way" sign you know. So she burned it, or ignored it if you want.

I see. I've never seen the word burned used as a slang for ignored. Sorry.

You would'nt happen to drive something with big wheels and a body kit by any chance?

Known as a Yield sign south of the border. Come on lads it's not that difficult to figure out what he's talking about.

OP this kind of thing isn't uncommon, you need to be prepared for it. Not saying what she did was right, far from it, but your reaction was a bit over the top, and could probably be considered intimidation or road rage. A blow of the horn or a flash of your lights would probably have done if you needed to vent.

Considering mick.fr's username I think it is fairly obvious that English is not his native language!

Sorry but I can't help it when somebody is playing with others people life.
I have to get out and talk to them.
Call it road rage if you want.

Why would you get out of your car?

If somebody breaks the law that is between them and the people who enforce the law. The people who enforce the law are the Police/Gardai not you.

And you assumed it would make any odds? Did you expect to get a chance to have a chat with her and show her the error of her ways?

That may sound a bit facetious but I'd bet she knew well she was in the wrong and didn't give a crap - her reaction to your protest suggests I'm right too.

In other words you could do what you want, be it shake your head, beep your horn or get out and start kicking her car, it wouldn't stop her doing it the next time. Only difference being you could find yourself in all sorts of trouble if you're found to be abandoning your vehicle in the middle of a busy road and attempting to intimidate other drivers.

Just because I'm feeling antagonistic tonight....

So, you see a woman being raped at knife point and you walk away, as that's between the Police/Gardai and the criminal?

    Sorry, could not resist :o

So with your logic, I should pull people over who are speeding or driving while talking on the mobile phone and give out to them for endangering other people. Get real.

Lose the attitude. If she did almost kill him he is entitled to give out to her. Idiots like her are killing quite a few innocents on our roads. Sometimes they kill themselves too, but not often enough.

I noticed she was a woman when I reached the window. Nothing to do with that.
I am 190cm for 19 stones not really a problem to have a chat with a truck driver if I have to.
As I said she put my life in danger and did not gave a rats ass. That is what pissed me off. So yes I was keen to speak with the lady.

We are talking about immediate danger alright, a situation that you miraculously escaped because of a crazy guy/girl.
    Don't generalize like that.

This is different, the crime is in progress.

The OP was acting after the crime took place.

To have a situation the same as to origional poster mentioned you should have said.

You see a woman after being raped at knife point. Do you run after the rapist and try and enforce the law.

The answer is of course no. I call the police.

    n.

Violent behavior exhibited by drivers in traffic, often as a manifestation of stress

No violence, just wanted to talk to her. Justifiably angry, but hardly violent.

The little lady in a micra hardly had a knife and did not pose an immediate threat to his safety. He was not trying to enforce the law, only trying to let her know how irrationally stupid her actions were. Stay on topic and relevant please.

Unfortunately OP it is road rage. It's a fact of life I'm afraid. These little dipsh*ts think it's commendable to take an I'm not Michael Scumacher attitude to driving properly as if somehow they must be forgiven for taking full advantage of convenient ignorance. I call it Road Passive Aggression.

Unfortunately the law protects them and not you. Please don't go playing into their hands by losing the rag.

I will do it once again.
Somebody almost cut your car in two pieces with you in the middle because they did not obey the road law/code.
You leave it be because otherwise it will be road rage to have a chat with the defective and dangerous driver to ask what the hell was he/she thinking about?

    You can't be serious guys

Anan1 what exactly is your f8cking problem??? The guy was dead right to go looking for the driver of the car, I know in the same situation id be pretty keen to let the driver of the other car know that im not happy to have my life put at risk by crazy driving. Call it whatever you like.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 330 ✭✭irishpartyboy

Some would argue that, any person who gets out of their car to take issue with another road user over a near incident, would be considered confrontational - regardless of how many of us would have liked to do it.

It's unlikely that someone driving a Micra would be of similar or near size to you. Every man and his dog would make that assumption.

I would say count your lucky stars and move on. The standard of driving in this country is a farce, we all know that.

Well if at least she told me "alright sorry I did not see you", I would have been happy. But no just a "shhh" with her finger on her lips like "go funck yourself" with your priority, I was going to hit your car and harm you, and so what you want a hug?"

It is almost traumatizing to deal with people like that lol

Face it mick.fr, the world is full of drivers like that. While I have full sympathy for how you felt, getting out of your car to confront another driver is stupid, aggressive and, most importantly, pointless.

    Lets suppose for a second....

The driver off the other car could've been a dangerous junkie, out of their mind on drugs. It's possible they could've taken your bait and attacked you with a weapon causing serious harm or worse.

I wouldn't recommend anyone "approach" the other driver after an incident like that. It is silly and pointless... the only time you should leave your car is IF there was an actual incident... then you call the Garda.

The proper thing to do is report them. I'm not saying it has much effect, but a man on fire, approaching a woman in a car isn't going to solve anything. It will only fan the flames!

@cpoh1 - please re-read this thread in the morning when (I hope) you have calmed down

I've been very frustrated myself on occasion because of totally incompetent, ignorant and arrogant dangerous drivers exactly like described in the OP's thread, but I cringingly accept getting out of my car to confront said drivers is not gonna solve anything

    mick.fr wrote: »

Seems pretty common, Celtic tiger probably...

Often had that happen and flashed the lights or gave the horn a blast only to get the hand signal in return. Can't understand that... If you cut someone up and they flash you, I'd have thought you give an apologetic wave (presuming you realise your error), not the finger.

Saw and incident last week at a red light on a right turn. Ahead arrow went green, car in front went left through a red, causing a woman and pushchair to jump back out of the road to avoid getting ran over. Once the light went green I went left and met the earlier car at a subsequent red light. I was going right, they left, so I took the opportunity to wind down the window and point it out. Driver seemed to get it, our exchange wasn't unpleasant.

I think I was right; someone could have been killed and is not acceptable, in my book, for that driver to behave like that on the road.

Someone has to educate these people if we are really going to address the road safety issue in this country. It is probably up to all of us to do our bit, in the nicest possible way.

I had a wonderful conversation with my friend the other day about Mary White's idea of an easier test for isolated elderly people who can't pass the normal test (already discussed in another thread). After much debate she decided I was a Dub who didn't understand country issues and I decided I wasn't getting anywhere by explaining that us Dubs also use the country roads these elderly people do from time to time and don't appreciate having our lives put in danger.

Point is that with a senior Government party official coming out with stuff like that, I don't think we're going to be seeing any substantial improvement to the driving test for the time being.
