    Hey,

25.m and unfit. I never really played sports, but I was always active so i kept lean. Now disaster, I am stuck in a job where i sit at a desk all day and the pounds have started piling on.

Obviously I want to get this under control before I become a total fat mess.

I know anything I do will be an improvements over the zero I am doing at the moment, but I am really starting from scratch so I just dont know where to begin.

Any advice is is welcome and I would really appreciate specifics on what people found works (exercise type and frequent)

    Cheers

Hey Spiral, read my reply on this thread. I was in the same situation as you a few years ago, it's really not that hard to get into it!

And listen to music while you run! And post the names (and band) of some of the songs you listen to here.

About 10 years ago I gave up the fags and started to put on the weight. I wanted to get fit fast in a time efficient, cheap way. So I decided to start running. All you need is an outside space and a good pair of shoes. On my first run, my sister put the kettle on as I was going out the door. And I was home again before it had boiled! Knackered and pink faced. Over the next 2 months, I gradually increased the length of my runs and before long I was having lovely 40 minute runs in the Phoenix Park.

You need to ask yourself some questions. Do you like team sports? Or do you prefer solitary exercise like running and gym work?

Regarding gyms: Even though I now exercise regularly in one, they are a financial commitment. If I were you I'd start to get active by walking, cycling or running. Then you can decide what kind of activity you think you will enjoy.
