Pulled Muscle(I Think)?

    Hello All,

Well it looks like my weights training has hit a brickwall in an injury. :(

Funny thing is it happened when i was stretching for a jog!

On my right arm just under the bicep i get a sharp pain when i move my arm suddenly in a downward motion. When i slowly move my arm in any directions and stretch it there is no problem.

I've rested for the last 3 days but it still hurts when i do that movement. no general pain or stiffness.

Have i pulled a muscle as i'm not sure?? or might it be a trapped nerve?

How long can it take to recover? What do i need to do to speed up the process?

Any advice would be great as i don't want to lose to much time from my training.

Anyone have this sort of injury before??

Just wanted to get peoples experience with this injury not a doctors analysis as i'm going to visit one later this week.

got this once before from overtraining. Try taking more vitamins and creatine that should speed along recovery.Try light weights just stretching the muscle easing back into full swing then

I got this problem from overdoing curls. A dull pain above the crook of the elbow. I suspect it's a type of tendinitis.

I laid off the curls completely and stopped doing rowing / pull ups for about two weeks. This seemed to clear it, though I'm careful not to overdo the biceps curls now.

It might be useful to stretch your biceps as well before you get back into training

Has been a few days now but can still feel at bit of tension in that area.

Haven't really go any jolts of pain since sunday.

Might do some light weights tomorrow to stretch the muscle and see if its any better.

Assuming the arrow is in the correct position, and it's supposed to be pointing towards the back of your arm then it would probably be wise to disregard most of the above since all the comments seem to be specifically talking about bicep injuries.

The arrow is point at your tricep, on the back of your arm. So it won't be from doing curls.

Tbh there's also very little to attempt to give a diagnosis off so at best everyone's shooting in the dark. All I'll say is that if something hurts it then don't do it. If you can train pain free then go for it. Just work your way back in slowly. I know for me changing an exercise can be the differnce between pain and no pain.

For example extenstions with a straight bar kill my elbows, but I can do them pain free with dumbbells.

The issue is with the back of the arm. not generally painful but any sudden movements from running, etc.. give a good bit of sting.

Nothing really in the last day r so but not going to push it too far.

Interesting that curls are doing this as i generally do 80 medball curls 3 times a week so understandable.

    thanks for the advice.

Apologies on my post - please disregard... I thought you were having the problem on the front of the arm.

You did say you were getting "the pain just below the biceps".
