    Hi guys,

Looking for some advice, my favourite bicep exercises are preacher and barbell but once i start doing either of these exercises once i start making any decent gains i get severe wrist pains which get really bad if i persist with the exercises so i have removed these from my bicep program and to be honest dont have great biceps.

    So

    (a) Has anybody experienced similar problems and how were they over come?

    and

    (b) Can somebody recommend other bicep exercises as part of a 3 day a week full body program, which means i would only be willing to do maybe two different bicep isolation exercises and most of the work i do is compound stuff which i prefer

    Hey Superdub,

A good while ago i pretty much had the same thing, quite bad wrist pains whenever i picked up a EZ or Straight Barbell to do bicep exercises (strangely enough all other exercises didn't affect the pain in my wrist). Id say what you have is an inflammation in the wrist so id suggest going to your doctor and getting anti-inflammatory medication. Once i started taking these it cleared up. However im not a doctor so i can't tell if it is inflammed or not but from what you said it sounds like the same thing, but the doctor will tell you what the story is.

In regards training, when you use dumbells for biceps did it hurt your wrists? (it didnt for mine) If they don't then stick with doing dumbell while the medication takes affect. And lift much lighter until it fully clears as you don't want to be encouraging the problem.

Cheers Michael yeah only hurts with barbell and EZ and first started happening with EZ and now happens with Barbell, this has been happening for several years. I dont have great biceps but i try to use dumbbells most of the time these days. However im making a concerted effort to get the guns up to scratch at the moment so i might have to drop down the doc! Thanks
