need to loose a bit of wieght as i have started snoring at night

    we have a threadmill,
i used to run 3 miles a day
    4-5 days a week
    for about 6 months
that was about 2 years ago, i had to stop because i started to get really sharp pains at the very top of my right leg. so i took a break, but never managed to use the threadmill since, even jogging outside brings the pain on.

    any suggestions

And the award for best reason to lose weight goes to...... :p

If the treadmill is not an option because of the pain, How about cycling or swimming, or starting a weights routine. Basically do any exercise you can that won't bring on the pain. Just do something to get started and build on it from there.

Other than that post up your daily diet.. That could be the most important factor in achieving your goal. i.e. Weightloss, followed by snorefree nights!!

    mukki,

I'm guessing that you never spend anytime on running technique? I mean, after all, who cares about running technique!

Chances are you had a fundamental error in your running technique, which was exacerbated by the repeated running bouts.

For technique, look up the POSE method of running on the net, lot of vids out there.

But also, looking at your previous routine you gave yourself very little rest and repeated the same action everyday, which is going to lead to overuse injuries in addition to an overall catabolic effect on your body.

Would I be right in thinking you're quite overweight? In that case running may not be the best option at present.

For a strength based workout, nothing compares to www.startingstrength.net/workouts

For overall fitness, get into www.simplefit.org or CrossFit (scaled to your intensity levels of course)

Also, post your diet for critique please.
